C63 Black Series DUCATI EDITION

We got a call from MB CANADA today asking if we wanted the DUCATI EDITION black series. He didn't know that much about it except for these things.

It will be $15,000 more than the fully loaded black series in canada.

70 Units worldwide
Carbon Ceramic Brakes
Designo Matte White paint job
Aero package
Special Interior
Different wheels
Custom badging?

Hopefully there will be a press release within the next few weeks.

Waste. Of. Money.

No matter what it will depreciate horribly.

The 2008 CLK BS new was 130K. You can buy one with today with 20K miles for mid 80's. I forget the total units but it wasn't a lot. MB just doesn't hold value. These limited editions are simply a gimmick.

Well, I just ordered mine and there was no option for this edition. I bet it's the same carbon brakes off the e63. I have to think with only 77 ever made for the US the depreciation won't be as bad.

Thats true about every single exotic car out there.

We only have 30 CLK 63 Black Series in South Africa, which were the 1st run of BS cars from AMG, yes they dropped in value.

Drop in value

Car, sleeper, icon.
Depreciate, maintain, asking price goes parabolic.

Look at the 300SL or the 275 GTB/4. Everyone wanted the Gullwing or the Daytona.

Hmm, how about the SLR versus today's SLS?

Just points to consider.

Not completely true. I could sell my 993 tomorrow for high 80's. MSRP in 1996 110K. MB just doesnt hold its value and more so in its lowest class vehicle with all the fixins..

Exotic was the word you used there... There is noting exotic about the Black Series, more so a BS with even more bells and whistles like a Ducati version. Its already a jacked up C63 as it is which is a jacked up C class. 90% of the people on the road will not even understand what it is. Only people who know about the C63 and the AMG line of MB will know what it is. To the others it will just look like a modded C class. Pull next to someone in a true exotic and there is no mistake.

I have come to that conclusion about my C63. The reason people dont try to race me is they have NO CLUE what it is or what it does. To them A C300 with some esthetic upgrades just pulled next to them.

No offence Even Money. Its a great car I hope you enjoy it. Im sure it will be a blast to drive. Im just talking bang for buck and residual value here owning a "Rare" car. You know my opinion on it.

When I first got mine in 09, you would be right, not a lot of people knew what they were or anything about them. Times have changed now. Look at all the new posts from new owners on here, it wasn't like that before. Now that the car has been around for several years and people see what it can do, its becoming more common knowledge for sure.

I agree there is nothing exotic about a C63, but around here everyone knows what it is now and what AMG stands for. People always try to race me, but I normally drive like its an F1 race and have the demerits to prove it

I agree somewhat. The C63 has seen more acknowledgement in the past few years. That has helped its depreciation a bit as well because it has become a more desirable CPO car.

My main point though was that it doesnt look the part. I cant tell you the lengths I need to go to get some people to race me. Rev's... fly bys.. ect.. THEN finally the M3's and Vettes get the point and I get a run. Maybe! At night its even worse. We simply look just any other C300 on the road. Good for the sleeper effect, bad for fun.

Drive 1 block in my 993 or my STI or my Camaro and I have everyone and their mother trying to race me. The point is in the C63 YOU need to solicit the race. In other "Exotics" people want to race you.

No problem...I remember my '06 STi and you're right, all the hondas, etc., wanted to race...

You can't argue for now on MB depreciation.. Maybe my next car will be a true "exotic."

2008 CLK63 Black Series 2012 C63 Black Series 2014 SLS Black Series
That price hof $15k has to be incorrect. I ordered a C63 Black Series and the price of the Aero package alone is over $10k and the matte black or matte grey paint options are $4k...see what I am saying? If it is accurate its a bargain and I will see if I can change my order.

Some of us don't care about depreciation. Name me a car that does hold its value.

Not caring about depreciation is fine. Getting your money worth is another. I can justify spending 90-100K on the C63 BS. Its a great car. Paying over 140K is just stupid as there are many other choices that smoke it at that price. How much did you pay or will you pay for your Black Series on delivery?

My Porsche has held its value very well. Granted I never drive it and it only has 12K miles on it in 16 years. LOL

2011 Hyundai Sonata is actually worth more right now than it was at MSRP. I saw the article on AOL Auto news.

Yes, if you are in love with the car you cant put a value on it. My point again is this marketing gimmick just tacking on options on options on an already optioned vehicle insults me as a buyer.

I would note that car manufacturers often add "bells and whistles" to a model in order to set it apart from similar models in their lineup. This is always accompanied by some advertising claiming uniqueness, etc., as well as a higher price. This seems to happen most frequently near the end of a model's life cycle. Mercedes is not alone in this. Recall how many Porsche 997.2 models were created within 18 months of the availability of the 991.

I agree. Paying 140k is ridiculous. Unless you really love the car because it has something special, but it really doesn't. I just hope a car with that price can play around with gtr and cars in that class. As far as our cars holding value, we all know the truth. I purchased mine for $44,000. It's an 09 with 12k miles on it. Has every package including the CF interior except the p31. I don't know the MSRP but Im sure it was around $70,000. I purchased the car around september 2011. Thats a big depreciation. I couldn't find an m3 around that price even with fewer packages. My brother purchased a 335xi for $48,000 fully loaded with 27k on it. Two different cars but bimmers hold up better than us
