Question about the Warranty - Your input needed
I am taking over the lease of a C63 (in the process and I cannot wait, but at the same time I don't want to take any irrational decisions).
The car has one year warranty left, I am taking the lease for 2 years. The only warranty available is for a minimum of 2 years.
Does it make sense to get a 2 year warranty when the car already has 1 year? That means, technically, I am paying double for the warranty because so far I don't have plans on buying the car.
So, I am not sure. If I decide not to buy with the 2 year one and stick with the year, I'd risk that last year.
Year: 09
Model: Premium only
Current KMs: 46k
Country: Canada
Cost of warranty per year: $4,200
Inputs would be appreciated.

Extend the warranty with them...
No it makes zero sense to over lap a year, why would the dealer even do that, are you sure it over laps??
I know you can extend the factory warranty as long as there is a service history and the car CURRENTLY has warranty on it.. So why would you extend the warranty now and not wait till its ready to expire in a week???
The car currently has one more year worth of warranty. I am leasing the car for 2 years. The minimum purchase of the warranty is 2 years. So I'll be left with an extra year.
Since I can only purchase 2 years worth of warranty, that means I'll either cover my @$$ for that extra year and not use the warranty for the other year (that year I would have returned the car), or, I just don't get covered for one year that is remaining on the car...
I would hesitate operating this car without a valid warantee.
If you buy it and return the car it will have cost you $400 per month for the last year.
Look for another.
You can purchase extended warranty at any time AS LONG AS the car currently has the factory warranty on it at that time and there is a proven service history.

Id risk it and not get the extended warranty. It should have all the bugs fixed by now being a 09 car. Make sure you bring it in there to have every little noise and complaint looked at while you still have your warranty.
