Awesome LOANER Vehicle
Took my C63 in for service and got a 2012 CLS550 as a loaner!
Black on Black fully loaded....incredible car
The boost is insane....the car pulls very hard and the exhaust sounds awesome...not as loud as a C63, but if you uncorked it it might even be louder
The adjustable suspension is magical....comfort is awesome for city streets and the performance setting is perfect for any ramps....i was taking on ramps at 130 kph in the rain last night....the grip was unbelievable
The active seats are epic.....with ventilation...black with contrasting white stitching...very Bentley-Like
A tune, some exhaust and some 20's with a Renntech lowering module

C63, Grigio Medio E46 M3
Wow!! That's some loaner. The looks are really starting to grow on me, still bother by the body lines on the rear quarter panels, and doors though.
How does it compare to the C63 acceleration wise?

Out of the hole, I was able to load it up to about 2000 RPM and the CLS came on like a freight train. It has alot harder launch on the street than the C63 because it has insane grip and traction, while the C63 is fighting for grip
Several mags have been able to record a 4.3 0-60 and a 12.7 quarter with a stock CLS550....
With a tune, the CLS would be insane....
I love my C63, but i need a bigger car and the CLS is a monster and my new first pick.
With the right wheel, the rear quarters look insane

It's very deceptive. Since the C63 is so loud you know exactly how fast you're going. The CLS is a little quieter so you have to look at the speedo to remind yourself of how insanely fast you're going.

It is such a beautiful car. Take a ride in the CLS63 if you really want to blow your mind. Soon as I sell my C63 in the spring that will be my new ride.

thanks for sharing--definitely a sweet loaner, sure beats a GLK or C300
I'm really leaning toward the CLS to replace my C63 as well.
The new M278 engine is ridiculous and I cant help but think it will take away from the sales of the CLS63 and E63 M157s. I'm a huge AMG lover and honestly would have a hard time "downgrading" to a regular MB after owning an AMG. However, there's quite a savings in money with little "useable" performance differences for street use.
I hope MB anticipates the fan fare these M278s will have once more people start buying them, I have a feeling they will become scarcer to find vs the M157s, power and value, plus a 4-matic option will make this engine a winner for MB IMO.
You can bet I will test drive both CLS550 and CLS63 when the time comes

I've driven the CLS63 as well. Love it.....i'm just trying to justify the $40k difference....
The CLS550 is definitely hitting a sweet spot for me

The CLS63 is into the 10's tune only FYI.

20K difference base also. Im just reading up on it now. I thought for a second the 550 had the same platform. I almost 550 seems like a good alternative. You could probably get it moving quite fast with a tune and more boost on drags. Probably mid 11's.

CLS550 has a 4.6l and the CLS63 5.5. Big difference there.

But the 4.6 sounds awesome too...can just imagine a resonator delete....
Mid 11's for sure....plus its a huge car...and it handles amazing for a non-AMG car.....
I've driven the old generation 2011 CLS63 and the CLS550 feels way more stout and planted. The older generation CLS63 fellt sloppy....
You have to drive it

I had a chance to drive the CLS63 on the track at an AMG performance event in the fall. I was definitely impressed at the 'get up and go' the car had and I didn't notice any lag at all. Really strange feeling being in such a big car and hauling a$$ like that.
The luxury is certainly on another level from a C63 too but you'd have to expect that.
I don't know if I'd take it over an E63 though... I think the rear seats are a lot smaller and the windows in the back might make passengers feel more closed-in.
You should definitely take an E out before buying... let us know what you think!

The CLS interior is way nice than the E. The E may drive a bit better than the CLS, but the E lacks the presence of the CLS
I was driving the CLS to work this morning and can't believe the amount of stares i was getting. The C63 is an eye-catcher, but the CLS is on another level. Plus the LED head and tail lights are incredible.
The smarter pick would be the E everytime as it has more interior space, but the emotional pick is the CLS. I stopped worrying about rear headroom when i figured out that i only drive someone in the back maybe 10% of the time.....
I'm not willing to sacrifice style for the sake of function....
Plus look at that stance!

I too, drove both the CLS63 and E63 at the AMG Performance Event. No doubt that the E63 has a bigger greenhouse and feels more spacious. But the E lacks the Style and Luxury of the CLS.....

That it definitely does! Matte white looks really sharp on that car.
Callmiro I hear you on the 'panache' of the CLS over the E. I'd probably end up making the same choice, unless I noticed a marked difference in driving between the E and the CLS when bagged hard on the highway.
