Hey all,

I dont feel like my CL is loud or monsterous enough..Ive heard the C63 and SL63 and they both make the ground shake under full load..

My question, same engine in the CL yet I cant hear that thundering clap like I do with the C's or SL's do..

CL forum seems to be empty so posting here to see if there a solution to this?

Thanks in advance!

Switch out the mufflers to Meisterschaft GT. That will make it sing. Beautiful sounding exhaust on a CL. Let me know if you need the pricing.

Maybe remove secondary cats as your first option. Will definitely ramp up the tone and will be dirt cheap I think neisterschaft sounds great but is totally diff to the AMG note

Remove secondary cats and resonator, install an Xpipe.

From my experience an xpipe will reduce exhaust note

I'd hazard an educated guess that the CL cabin is much more extensively soundproofed vs. the C cabin. It's going to be harder for you to get a great exhaust note from the driver's seat.

I'd go with the ACGSD tip above, if it were me.

thanks for replies,

Ok so first option would be the de-cat and X pipe, although someone diagreed?
Any more info on this?

Secondly I have found this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2008-MERCE...item3f1199ba8b

With a breaker nearby to me, is this what would work? if so just as far back as the cats?
Tips the same? or use mine?

With my suggestion you get power and more noise.

What year is your CL63?

Let us know and let's look into options. You don't want to start randomly cutting up pipes on a CL63!

Why not remove the primary cat?
I realize that will need a tune.

1. Roll down the windows. Floor it.
Or
2. Sell the CL and get a C.

#1 is actually a good suggestion, LOL.

#2 Telling people to sell their car is just rude :o
Suggesting they buy another more viceral car to compliment their car at least is somewhat good advice. As having a wild car makes one appreciate a quiet 500hp car.

I will add, that I also wish my E sounded like the C ; )
Sometimes anyways.
The open sunroof and floor it mod does help.

SuperSprint has the CL63AMG 6.2 right now in their R&D department. Give us a few days and we will see what parts are interchangeable with the other AMG systems and get you sound clips

Any update on this as I was thinking the same for my E63. Not sure if cat delete or resonator delete etc etc will give the same result.

The C63 has the same engine (in slightly diffferent tune) so what in the exhaust system makes it sound different??

CL is more luxuries. Then the c63. So it would make sense that your car is not as loud.

I suggest you do a straight pipe.

- cheap
- affordable
- no side effects
- reversible

I'd say the noise is a side effect. Straight pipes is not going to sound like the C63.

This is missing the point though. What is different between the two standard set ups? If it isnt a straight pipe, then it won't sound the same.
