Changing Side Marker c63 Coupe

Just wanted to get some input for those who have changed the side marker covers/lamps on their c63. Has anyone gotten any grief from cops or when they bring their cars in for inspection? Have read that it could be a problem if you had anything other than the OEM amber ones.

Also, anyone know if the markers that fit on the sedan would fit on the coupe? Really like these and another poster on a different thread has had good results from this seller on ebay.

They fit. I put them on my coupe. Cops have never stopped me for it. It wouldn't matter anyway because when the lights are on, they illuminate the correct color because I have the stealth bulbs in them. I don't think anyone has reported a problem even with led's installed.

Thanks. Where did you get yours from? Did you install them yourself? If so, was it easy? Thanks in advance for any info

I put the tinted side markers on my coupe a couple months ago. Ordered them off of Ebay, was cheap and easy. Installing them yourself is a joke. Took about 10 mins. Go for it.

they're dead easy to install. Do a search and you can find the DIY's here. Took me 10 minutes to install them.

ebaymotors. Easy install. There is a trick that makes it way easy though. Have the new lens easy to reach before you take off the amber one. Hold the inside housing firmly against the fender so that when you pop off the amber lens, the housing doesn't move. Then, immediately put the new lens in place. This will help you keep things lined up. Don't worry if you don't do too well keeping it positioned securely, it will just take a few more minutes. Read the instructions in the thread posted in this forum.

Just changed mine. Super easy swap.

Let us know what the fitting is like because I got these http://www.ebay.com/itm/2008-2009-ME...item5641a6053c
And they are not a perfect fit.

Just switched my side markers out. I happened to have to take my car into the dealer to get the front grille replaced (i'll post what happened in another thread) and was speaking to one of the techs and he said he would be happy to change out the markers while I waited for the grille. 10 minutes later, he was done and it looks amazing. I got mine off of ebay and they fit perfectly. I got the smoked cover with the chrome bulb that glows amber to stay "legal". The tech was surprised I got it off ebay and it fit perfectly. I will post pics this weekend when I get a chance.

Just as an aside, the tech went through the wheel well, there were a couple of plugs that came out to pull the panel aside to get access to the lights. He said this way is much easier than trying through the hood. He just turned the wheel all the way to one side and got easy access to the side markers. Just an FYI for any DIYers out there.

i got this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/08-11-MERCED...ht_2723wt_1114

Someone else on this forum bought from the same seller and he liked them so I gave it a shot.

The color in reality isn't quite as dark as it's shown in the picture. It's a little more clear, but on the car it looks great. I will try to get some photos on Saturday and post them here.

Those are the same ones I got. You sure there isn't some space between the light casing and bumper? They certainly don't sit snug as OEM markers.

I could be wrong but the link that you have listed is a little different than the one I got. The seller is also different I think.

Mine fit perfect, no gap. I actually walked to the original marker after he did the first one but before he removed the second one so that I could compare the two. They fit exactly the same. I could get the tip of my fingernail into both of them.

Here are some pictures of my smoked side markers. Sorry the photo quality isn't great, taken at the dealer while I was getting my inspection done.

oswiff, do you have a side profile pic of your C63 with the black wheels? If so, could you post it or put a link up? I'm contemplating doing my winter tires in full satin black or just the insert section.

Thanks!

EDIT: nevermind, found your pics with the AMG E, looks great!

Here's two pics if it helps.
I personally prefer only the inserts painted. Wish I had thought of that before I painted mine.

Thanks for the pics oswiff...I think I will be painting the inserts and the inside of the wheel only. Going to use Plasti Dip just in case I don't like how it turns out.

I'm sure you've seen but there is another member who has a red c63 sedan that has only the inserts painted and the edges silver. He had posted the photos a while back and i think someone reposted it in the last week. It looks really good. Good luck with your decision and hope to see photos soon

Just saw those photos, those wheels do look great, thanks for the tip! Hopefully I can pick up the wheels early next week and the weather continues to cooperate so I can do this next weekend. Will definitely post pics when done!

I have a question here, a little off topic, how come the headlight you have is a bit different from mine? I mean like the turn signal lights and the projector headlights? isn't it black out when from factory? Maybe the Canadian model is different than the US one?

Are you referring to the Lighting Pkg? Yours probably has it. The pic you're referring to has the standard halogens.
