I would have to say the Sport mode because it is very consistent. The manual mode is more of a miss than hit. You would have to practice a lot and even like that you would never be as consistent although if you shift perfectly well you will end up with higher traps and lower ET.

Put it in sport mode, but click the down shifter. This will enable the tranny to only shift at redline, so you can feather first gear off the line then hammer it.

Me neither....so literally put in S, click downshift so you see it says "s1", brake/throttle pressure as you wish, then go to town?

Yup... Manual sport will only shift at redline.

As to the OP's question:

Manual Paddle shift is better. Its a much quicker shift but you need to figure out when to shift or you will hit the rev limiter. If you are looking to shave 100's off your time Manual Mode is the way to do it.

Got it. Interesting. I wonder how this applies to the MCT transmission? Manual still quicker?

On my 09 there is no question that the M shifts are much quicker, you are right.

Good question.

The MCT in S+ mode probably shifts just as quick as the 7G in manual mode and even quicker in manual mode. The gear ratios are also slightly different in the MCT. The difference in shift times between the C mode to S is 20 percent. S+ is another 20 percent from S+ to M mode is another 10 percent. So the difference from C to M in the MCT is a 50% quicker shift.

Thanks guys!! Great information. I didn't know about the S mode and the one downshift to access the whole rpm range. Wow!

Limp mode usually M-mode on a track or erratic street driving. Never heard of it in S mode unless your ******* it above 260F which should be hard.
