Got LT headers and tune.. Still can't go by the god damn Viper.
Did a 80kmh roll to 200kmh and he walks on me slightly still.. Couldn't do any other pulls under 80 cause its -5c here and the tires just spin.
Need to lighten the old benzo up a bit.. Diet time.

Too much pissing around and $$$... Just need a little less weight or a little more power...
I thought I would take him as all the stock vipers are running 121-123mph traps and tuned/header C63 are running 123-125mph traps... guessssss not..

You have to see what your car really traps. Run the 1/4 mile strip or use a vbox and try the 1/4 mile. With my vbox on flat terrain. Mine trapped 121. With LT it should be like 123+.

+1 to this. He's also got 335 section tires on the back. Pretty tough to expect to beat a car like that.Originally Posted by DuaneC63

It's weird seeing this thread for me as my friend actually recently rented an 06 Viper and we did a few 60-130 pulls and I pulled on him 3 out of 5 times, what year was the one you went up against? More than likely an 08 if your headers and tune could not take him out.
I actually got a video of it too on my GoPro but i am new at it and don't know how to edit the footage and wasn't sure it was in my best interest to post it online LOL.
My car is stock other than a MHP tune and CF intake.

Hes got an 06 too.. With just a tune he walked on me pretty hard.. Now with the headers and new tune he walks on me slightly... I swear he got a slight jump tho.. But he stilled pulled on me a bit...Originally Posted by j bro

We did an 80-200km/h run.. only did 1 run too.. I think if we started at a lower speed things might be different...
Its a 500hp car and only weighs 3500lbs I think... He has a throttle body on it.. Not sure how much that helps him.
I was disappointed.

What gear were you pulling from, we did a pull when i was in 4th at around 3400 RPM and he walked me, then I started in 3rd at around 4K RPM and it was very close but then i would lose him when he had to shift, we were both very surprised at how well my car did, he had a passenger in that set tho.Originally Posted by Merc63

But we also did one pull where we both were the only ones in the car and we were pretty much dead even..

As the owner of both a 2009 Viper ACR Hardcore AND a 2009 C63 AMG....I will tell you the ACR waxes the Benz. To make the C63 keep up with or even beat the ACR would be a scary proposition...the little 4 door just isn't meant to be THAT fast. Where the Viper ACR could handle another 300hp very nicely...its just apples and oranges...and as far as handling the ACR must be driven to fully appreciate the ultra high limits of the Dodge.

We are talking about an 06 with 500hp, not the newer version.. That thing would eat me alive. I think I have a chance of keeping up to him with my mods.... We only did the 1 run and I was in manual mode, I never use it and didnt shift the best.. When we were looking for a road to run on he hammered it, I followed and he wasn't pulling on me then.. We'll see how it goes at the track this spring.Originally Posted by e55 addict

Beautiful colors, BTW.

Your buddy in the Viper simply must not be able to drive it good.. I had a tune and raced him many times and there was no chance, he was walking on me hard... Its 500lbs less and roughly the same HP..... There is no way you're keeping up to that.Originally Posted by j bro

Also, the Viper will vary greatly from driver to driver as you either can drive a Viper or you can't. With the C63 except for the launch you can just hold r down. My friend is a real good Viper driver and has a 2000 Viper R/t with B&B long tubes w/no cats, Roe Racing tune, CAI, smooth intake bellows, Racing coil and wires, and 3:55 gears and he flat leaves the C63 especially from a dig where the Viper just rips away. My C63 is a tune only car (dont know which one as I bought it used from a dealer and was able to break 155mph so I am assuming some sort of tune) and can in no way keep up with even the modded 2000. I love my C63 and would love to drive one that can leave a Viper but I think the practicality will be lost, a Viper is its own animal and the fact that some C63's modded right can keep up with a stock Viper is cool but if you go mod for mod the Viper wins everytime and with companies like Underground Racing making reliable 1500HP Vipers modding a C63 to beat a Viper is a futile venture and this is coming from a AMG LOVER.

I agree with you, he is a decent stick driver but not the greatest, he missed shifts on a couple pulls even when he didn't it was fairly even, either way I'm counting it as a win in my booksOriginally Posted by Merc63

and I have no intention to start an OE vs. MHP war but most guys running a MHP tune say they are around 535-540 HP, havent dynoed mine but thats what alot of people have come up with. so would that slight horsepower advantage make a difference?

Clearly a Viper has huge potential, its a monster of a engine and designed to go fast.Originally Posted by e55 addict

Im just happy to keep up to it.

I think pretty much all tunes are about the same give or take a bit.. Most tuned cars are running 119MPH traps at the track...
You gotta remember he 500lbs less then you, that is a hugeeeee difference.
Im probably sitting around 570-580hp at the crank and could just barely keep up to him so no way a tune only is going to come close.
I actually rented a 06 Mamba Edition in Honolulu a few years back for a week.. Its cool looking car and gets a lot of looks, but you can clearly see it was designed with one goal in mind, going fast and that's it.

Thank You, got rid of my 2011 CTS-V Coupe 6 spd for it and never looked back. If you really want to see what my ACR can do stock look for the Nurburgring 7:12 record lap and enjoy.
