2011 AMG C63
new owner here, just a quick question
Hello all, I just picked up a new 2011 C63 yesterday and I was wondering how should I break in the engine, what is the best way?? Is the motors like bmw's break them in hard they tend to run harder, or are the amg motors more finicky?
Thanks
Thanks

The problem is, there is no definitive answer, not really. So, starting another thread serves no purpose. All of the points are already out there. You'd best be served by calling some performance shops and get their opinions.

Motor is supposedly broken in at the factory.
the break in period is for the transmission and the LSD (if you have one)
IMHO breaking in the transmission and the LSD is very important.

2015 C63S E1 (sold 2012 C63 AMG Sedan (Premium & APX)) & 09 C300 Sport 4Matic
This is how I'm doing it:
Start gently in C mode than over the first 1500 miles, increase gradually, vary the speed and revs, don't drive at steady rpm for long periods, accelerate and brake the engine when you occasionally use M or S+ modes. I avoid kick down situations.
Mercedes states to limit rpm to 4500 and speed to 85 mph for the first 1600 mi. I head that recommendation but start to push these limits as I approach the later part of the brake in period.
I check oil level every time I gas up, I will change the LSD oil at 3000mi (as recommended by MB) and I will also change engine oil at that time (not required by MB).
It's about a gradual and steady increase in pushing the car while varying the loads to seat the rings and other drive train components.
I like to always try keep mechanical empathy in mind
