Clicking Sound
12 c63 p31 with about 1800 miles on it... From cold start heard this odd clicking sound from the engine... Went away after driving for a little while and oil to temp and didn't happen after next start... Any ideas?
Thanks

Like the others have said, just your lifters. Go get a few Liters of 5w40 and top off your oil until it's between the two red marks. My 63 had this ticking sound this morning, added 1L and it went away.

So far the sound hasn't come back... The lifter explanation makes sense ... The car hadn't sat for a while ... Just overnight ... I did run the car pretty hard the night before...
Thanks for all the input ... Very helpful stuff

I really believe its part of the break-in process. I had mine do the same thing at around the same miles but it never happened again. I'm now at 2400. It would be interesting to find out if yours will come back.

Mine too. My good friend is an AMG tech. They haven't used 0w40 for years.
Maybe these guys don't know how to read?
Google hydraulic lifters. You will see why you don't want to use a oil too thin like 0w40. It leaks out of the lifters.

Can someone post the contents of the TSB please. I have been reading various 0 vs 5 threads for a while now..... It is time to put this argument to bed.. and for that.. we need proof. Someone post the proof (I can no longer access http://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/)...

Noted elsewhere I had clicking and rattling now attributed to (ready for this?) washing the grill with a sponge. The grill once came loose. The clips holding the grill are not up to it. The sound was like dry lifters or loose pulley. Only happened twice. There is sometimes the faint sound of lifter noise which quickly subsides.

My grill is broken off on the passenger side too.
