From order date to delivery? Slight Rant
Hey guys, long story short.
I ordered my car first week of March, last week emailed saleslady for an update. She told me she was very busy and would get an answer for me by Thursday (last week). Didn't get an update on Friday. Emailed her again. Now it's Monday and I have no news yet. She had told me that I would receive the car sometime end of May which is fine. All I want is an update, does the car exist? Has it been built, anything.
I purposely went to her to order from all the dealers as she was always very helpful, I can imagine it's the busy season. My questions to those who ordered a car, how long did it take to receive and was it difficult to get an answer? How much longer shall I wait for my next email to her?

Buddy relax.
It takes almost 3 weeks just to cross the pond, LOL
As far as her being so busy, I call BS. They already have your money so your priority has just went down. Sorry for the rude awaking, but facts are facts.
Most cars take around 4-6 weeks to be built, if that helps.

you ordered it at the beginning of March and got a delivery date of the end of May . it's only April 2 ! pump your brakes a little . the lady might be busy . if you need an answer that bad , then go to the dealer . all you want is an update and you are acting like they missed the delivery date . i would hate to see you when it's closer to the end of May

I had a similar experience with my car - thing is I ordered mine to coincide with my lease turn in. Turns out I tracked it myself online and found out it was sitting in a port in Baltimore already and was going to for a month until my original delivery date. No call, nothing. I called, b*tched out my saleswoman and asked to speak with her manager. End result - I got my car early and for $1000 cheaper.
For a Merc customer, you should expect top notch service and expect nothing less.

No excuse for not meeting expectations in terms of "i'll get back to you thursday" but yes, you do sound quite excitable
Ordered my car in December (as I recall) - mid/late-January build, was in my hands on valentines day Feb 14th.

I don't think I'm out of line. If she told me last week "no news, i'll get back to you in a few weeks" I would be fine with that. However she told me she'd have news by thursday, to make a client wait a few days is fine. I just expect an answer.

You should have no problems here, and you Dealer should be able to satisfy all of your concerns.....easily.
Depending upon what time period has elapsed from your initial firm order, your car will be "in the system"/"on the computer" etc etc.
Consequently, all you salesperson should have to do, is press a button, enter your details, & the current status of your order will be shown.
My dealer sent me updates in this form regularly whilst we were waiting for our car.
I loved any "paperwork" relative to our car.....our salesperson knew that, so he "bombarded" me with it. I have maintained a file on the car sinse our initial enquiry, & that file is now quite thick!
So, what you require, should not be a problem.
Cheers, Pickles.

my wife bananas! :D
IMO he has every right to ask for an update. Great customer service starts from the second you walk into the showroom the very first time till you trade your vehicle back in after years of use to buy your next... then the cycle repeats itself.
As far as I can tell and it's only his side of the story, his salesperson dropped the ball. There is no excuse why he was kept in the dark. Heck when I bought my little GLK for the wife because she woke up one day and decided that Carneol Red was the colour she wanted (thus eliminated the x3, Q5 etc )... we were automatically kept up to date throughout the 2.5 month wait for our car. Maybe our sales guy was just being nice... but then again, you don't become President's circle for over a decade for nothing.

I think that aggravating the situation might cause you my problems in the end. The reason your car is not there, is not the salesperson's fault.
It's kind of like blaming the waiter because your steak is under-cooked. If I was your waiter, I would take it back to the kitchen then bring you a steak with a luggie in it and watch you eat.
Lay off the salesperson and calm down. Or better yet, call AMG Germany and see how they respond to your temper tantrum.

never had a temper tantrum, wrote 2 friendly emails asking if there was an update. Just wondering how long it can actually take to get one?
For those who waiting 9 months, how's that even possible?

U have every right to expect a prompt response when asking for an update. As for how long the car takes I guess that depends on dealer allocation - but the same applies here. If one dealer cant get it in your time frame, another one can and will, as long as you are willing to shop around.

I've ordered mine in Nov2011 and am still waiting. It's suppose to be done building by the end of this month. If my dealer comes through with what they have said in writing, I'll be getting the car below invoice and that's why I'm waiting it out.

for us in HK, don't have a choice! We have only 1 dealer in the territory and it's monopoly ! I guess we all have to wait : the new BS owners just got their cars after a long delay !

I ordered my (non-AMG) car on Oct 22nd. I got an update in January after it hit the assembly line. Since then I've been lied to many times. Was told that he'd let me know when it was assigned to a ship, which he didn't. He then promised to get back to me a few days later, which he didn't. He then told me the car would be here end of February, which it wasn't....then said it would be end of March, which it wasn't. Heard from him last week when he told me my car reached port and would be on a car carrier (truck) in a day or two. I had to explain to him that the ship is in port, but not the port where Mercedes are unloaded and that that wouldn't happen for 3 more days. I explained to him that based on what I found out here that my car probably won't be on his lot for 10 days.
I don't expect a salesman to check every day and give me an update. But if he's going to OFFER to give me updates on day "x", and then days go by with no updates, and then lie when he does give an update, then yea...there's reason to be upset. I'm most likely going to get the car in a few days or early next week but there's a part of me that wants to smile when it comes in and tell them to shove it up their *** and go pick up the Boss 302 I've been eyeing up...
But enough of my gripe...yes, if you were told that you'd be gotten back to and were repeatedly lied to, that's not acceptable.

How much longer shall I wait for my next email to her?

but seriously anywhere from 2-6 months I'd assume.....
I've ordered three cars thus far and it took some time, but it was worth it you know? because it's what you want; as you already know....
I would honestly try to put it in the back of your mind if possible.....
then before you know it, it'll be here
good luck

Ordered my c63 coupe dec. 7th. Car came in yesterday(monday). Went to pick it up and it had the regular headlights instead of the lighting package upgrade I had ordered. Mercedes took it upon themselves to not install them even though it was on the build sheet. Now they have to build a new car so the 3 month wait begins again. Talk about a tease.
