Pretty sure it's 1st amg's buddy's car, which was sitting waiting for delivery.

I wonder if MB will say it is common practice for the dealership to test the car before delivery? I just can't imagine people could be so stupid as to do something like this and post it on YouTube if that wasn't the case ...

It is common practice. It's part of the PDI process. A common problem is wheel bearing wear from the car being strapped down on the train, which they can find from a road test. My dealership put about 1km on my car on the road test.

I predict dealer denies all as there is no proof it's a BS... Says buy it or we sell to someone else.

That's how these guys roll denial mode 24/7.

This has probably happen to lots of cars on here... Probably not as bad (rev limiter for 5 seconds) but the car was probably drove aggressively.

I highly doubt any damage was done to the car, just sucks to see someone abusing their position with your ride on YouTube.

You can't mistake that exhaust note for anything but a BS.

True. If anything, it was broken in properly!

I have to admit, I expected a lot more excitement... that was 8 minutes of bore.

Definitely not a cool thing to do with a sold unit, but I'm sure most AMGs are ripped around at the port in Bremehaven and again at Halifax. Meh. It's not a fragile powertrain.

Just for the record I drove my car harder than this video with 30km on it too and she runs like a champ. A compression test was just one at 50K km and all cylinders were bang on. It doesn't burn much oil either.

Not justifying these retards, they are brain dead for treating someone elses exotic car like that, let alone recording it! Im just saying the car isn't going to break or be a lemon cause it went over 4000rpm within the first 1000km like some on here think.

Car will be fine, but I would still be pissed as hell if I knew some tech took my car for joyride.
I would speak with the owner of the dealership to let him know how I felt.
But then again, attitudes such as this trickles down and I would have to wonder if the owner is not an *sshole as well...

I did the same to my car but the whole reason for the 1000mile process is other part in the drive train to get broken in the rite way.
The motor is broken in before it's installed in the car everything else isn't tho.

They do some miles before they release the cars from factory, how many I don't know but when I picked up my BMW back in 04 I saw it come off the trailer wrapped in that white plastic it had exactly 10 miles .

My C had 17 miles but only saw it on the showroom so they deft beat on it bc it was one of the 1st to come to the east coast

Posting from phone.

I mean it's nothing compared to what they do to your car in the ports or the drive from their to the dealership.

The engine is already broken into, your just breaking in the transmission.

It's not much of a big deal as I don't believe in a break in procedure anyway, it's foolish.

Gahhh you beat me to it lol...

Makes me wonder how my C63 was driven at my dealership before I took delivery :s I can understand a quick 1km trip around the block to make sure everything is ok, but that was one heck of a test drive on an already sold BS.

Rage is correct, i do know the owner...just an update, I was at the dealer this afternoon picking up a car cover for my SLS and the GM advised me of this thread, they apparently were contacted by someone in florida about this video. Needless to say, the whole dealership is dealing with this all day. The dealer already contacted the owner and told him of this situation. The dealership is confronting this head on, they have not skirted this problem and in fact are really owning up to it. You cannot control every employee nor can you not be aware of every poor judgement call. Being an owner of any business, you are aware that employees are taking advantage somehow and somewhere. I do not know who and how the employees in question are being dealt with, but rest assured they are. This dealership has a stellar reputation and they are not taking this lightly one bit. BTW, the owner of the BS is picking it up tomorrow.

Oh man, I really want to know what would happen when the owner gets there...either he will be mad cool and say, "It's cool, I'm sure they were excited to drive this beast." or could yell at the dealer and wants compensation or even back out on the deal?

That is great news... I would want them fired. I agree with Merc63 that it might not be a big deal but it is not their car to decide.

Well, it sounds like the dealer is being fair about it. Still, it sucks to be the owner of that -- it's not like you can reject that one and wait for another for this model!

Absolutely terrible. :\ The sad part is that this probably happens *way* more often, it's just they're not stupid enough to post YouTube videos of their escapades.

Glad to hear the dealership is dealing with it like stand-up guys, 1st amg. Still, such a shame.

The owner can drive it however they want, but I don't want some random tech doing it without my explicit permission.

I think credit for 4 brand new tires and maybe a free oil change or two (not that you would want to take your car back there for service) would be fair
