Mg, stay with the 0-40.
Merc63.....Why hasn't ARP marketed a kit for the 6.3 ? I've looked several times. Nothing.
How did you arrive at the final torque values for the ARP?
Despite healthy challenges and criticism your net worth is high!! Thanks

C63 engine repair due to head bolt fail
Just thought I would post a quick note about my resolution with the Dealership. The service manager contacted me yesterday and he told me that he had been reviewing my case with MB USA and have agreed to take another 50% off of the initial 50% I had negotiated down to. So the final split is 75% MB and 25% me or $1,500.

was your car out of warranty?
any engine damage other than the broken bolt?

Was 5K miles over warranty.
Had one broken head bolt that was creating a 25% leakdown on cyl #7.
They removed heads, replaced head bolts and lifters, sparkplugs, gaskets ect.Oil change and filter - test drove the car for 15 miles and changed oil and filter again.
All is good!

heck the plugs and oil change are worth 400 bucks
sounds like a deal, especially with the new lifters
I'd gladly pay $1500 for that stuff if they would do mine now, before failure

I've owned my 07 CLK63 for nearly 4 years now with 65K miles and counting. I haven't experienced any of the symptoms associated with the head bolt issue but I live with the occasional tapping noise from the engine.
Being now aware of the potential problem, I will seriously consider:
1. selling the car; or
2. replacing the head bolts and the valve buckets.
Thx to all contributors to the forum.

You need a block and head to get the required measurements to produce the stud.
Weistec did this and orders the studs, also gives final torque spec.
Anyone can order studs. Doubt there is enough $$$$ in it for arp to buy a m156 block and heads to sell the bolts... No one is buying them except weistec.
The info you need to order is on their site.

Here's an alternative. I bought an '07 CLK63 last week with 15k miles....bought a warranty online for 5 years to go with it that covers TSBs and everything but normal wear items. That will pick up the tab for valve lifter buckets and head bolts before anything breaks.
Note....not all ext'd warranty co.s will cover M156 cars

I took the time a while back to visit each AMG forum asking for sample headbolts . Overwhelming indifference punctuated by heart felt hostility.

Sucks that no one helps out on the head bolts. So easy to do

Thank you; the search continues.
Realistically what % of the affected c63 actually encounter problems? Seems like < 1%...
#623
< 0.1%
The engines have been on the road anywhere from 4 to 6 years and if it were an epidemic and certain to occur in all cars it would be apparent by now

Lol there is definetly more than 20 failures. Do you think everyone comes on here with a failure?? I've got 3 or 4 in my city. That's just one city. Numbers are higher than suggested by our local engineer, but still relatively low and I don't think it's something to worry about too much.
