ECU tuning without cracking it open!!!
Saw over on "the other site" that Eurocharged seems to have found a way to tune through the OBD II port, even in the initial flash. Could this really mean no more ECU opening and closing? And map switching on the fly with a supposed new handheld tool they will also be releasing?
Very exciting news!

Do you know if this is only on the newer models or all C63's?
Hopefully the system works well. Ive heard of this system with other tuners but the ECU needed to be cracked first. Then you could use the block to change tunes on the fly. The problem was if the customer didnt follow the instructions well enough they could kill the car by messing up the file and the ECU needed to be sent out to get it working again.

It's 100% working for all 63's, 300's, 350's, 550's, and the 450.
No initial opening required.
I'm sure a few members can chime in and explain how we tuned theirs without opening the ECU.
Our new programmer will be released in a few days and it can store multiple tune files and the stock file.
I'm still working on the Bi-Turbo V8's, but all of the others are ready to go.
Keep an eye out for an upcoming programmer and tune sale! I was hoping to announce this officially before it leaked but I guess someone beat me to it!
Thanks!

Very cool.
Are there fail-safes installed for things like pulling out the tuner before the tune is done or not following the instructions properly and messing up the flash?

For those of us that already have other vendor tunes, can a new tune be loaded via OBD II without reopening the ECU, as if we were stock? Or will the stock map need to be reloaded first caveman style?

The programmer has a recovery mode that will fix any issues encountered during the flash. I pulled the programmer from the OBDII port on my CLK63 BS and the recovery mode fixed it without any issue.
The ME9.7 cannot be read via OBDII. This means that any tune on the ECU will be overwritten with our software. I can back up the current tune and add it to the programmer, but the ecu would need to be sent in.
This isn't a limitation of our programmer, but rather an ECU limitation.

That's Awesome! Those that are on the fence about taking their cars into the dealership with a tune can now flash back to stock when needed. Awesome job there Jerry!

That is awesome news! Coming from an Evo X and using the accessport on it, i've always wanted something similiar for the C63.

Excellent news for you 63 guys.
No more worries about your ECU's being broken.

Nice work guys way to be innovative.
So truthfully, can the dealer still pull values stored in the ECU to see if throttle position went over 100%, etc, to identify if a tune was in place or "something changed here..."
