2012 Radio Removal Help
Found videos all online for up to 2011 W204s, but the configuration on the 2012s are a little different.
I'm trying to install a video in motion unit.
Any help with the radio removal will be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance!

interested on this topic as well. I hate not being able to adjust the nav in motion and having video in motion would be nice so my passengers can watch videos on long trips. IDK why MB feels the need to tell me not to watch a video when I'm driving

It's for legal reasons. That way when you get into an accident, you can't blame MB for offering the capability of watching a dvd while driving. Frivilous lawsuits is why there is so much electronic nannys.

Figured it out! You have the remove the wood trim along with the vents.
Once that is out you loosen the 2 silver torx screws about half way (they are long)
then push the tabs the screws are attached to down (this will release the head unit)
Pull out and viola! Install the VIM unit as per their provided instructions

Can you comment if your reverse camera automatically comes on if you have your VIM enabled?
And do you have to press + - or any buttons to activate the VIM..
Trying to figure out difference of eBay and mid city engineering version
Thanks

My car was already equipped with a reverse camera.
Everything works as it should and exactly how it was before the VIM install. Only difference is I can watch a movie while driving now

Start at the glove box side pry it up till it all pops off towards the steering wheel.
The trim and vents are one piece.

There are actually no laws that cover disabling device input (monitors for entertainment purposes are a different story) in vehicles, people commonly blame NHTSA for it, but they only suggest it as a guideline, not a requirement. It is more a gentlemens agreement between the manufacturers, which is why most disable input in motion in the US. I'm not sure about elsewhere, but when I was in SA in 2009, I had no problems messing with the vehicle GPS while in motion (a relatives car, rentals still disable via custom firmware)

Rsquad911 , thank for the vid. I'm getting my BS today and I want to install the VIM.
Do you have the new COMAND Online or standard COMAND ? I'm wondering if this makes a difference with the VIM.
Thanks.

Hey Sorry to bring this back.
I am trying to remove the radio and I have followed all instructions and it just doesnt work.
I removed the trim. Unscrewed the screws half way, pushed down, but the radio doesnt come out. Any help would be appreciated because I have to have this removed by Sunday the 23rd at night at the latest. Thanks.
