I am sorry if this is a repost. I tried using the search option but no help there. Do you know if it is possible to install the AMG performance media on a "regular" 2012 c63?

 

Probably not because you have many sensors like Gmeter , actual power used , tire pressures etc..... Sounds way to hard to retrofit it. I could be wrong because AMG themselves offered SLS customers to retrofit it

 

Ah, true. Didnt even think about hardware issues. Stupid me. Still, would be nice to have it

 

Anything is possible if you're willing to pay for it.

 

I decided to mail AMG performance studio. At the same time i enquired the cost of repainting the car to Designo Magno Cashmere. It would look sick.

Let me know what they say about the AMG performance media. I'd also be interested since my BS didn't come with it. As for the paint job, I'm sure that will come with a hefty price tag. I plan on getting mine wrapped with a satin matte wrap. It'll be cheaper, still look good, be easier to repair and maintain, and isn't permanent.

 

Decided i'm getting my car matte white wrapped. Gonna try to get it done next week. Gonna post pics when done. The diamond white is an awesome color. I mainly want to protect it from damage. If i miss it i can always dig it back again from under

 

Got an answer from AMG today. First off, the repainting of the car would cost 20k € and a little more so i booked a time for a nice matte white wrap. Car will be wrapped on july 17th-19th. Posting pics then. He said retrofitting is possible, but he could not immiediately give me a price on that one. I'll keep you guys posted.

 

If it's matte white why don't you just wrap it?

 

Not sure if you're looking at a vinyl white wrap or not, but if you are, here's a tip. Don't wrap with vinyl if you want paint protection. Vinyl is WAY too thin, rock chips punch through it, and it'll look like crap in a year. It's not very stretch friendly either, so it's a pain to work with.

Your car is diamond white metallic. Get a clear matte paint protection film, which is 4x thicker than vinyl, and since it's clear, it won't discolor from heavy stretching. Something like XPEL Stealth or Prestige Satinguard. Your base white color will show, along with the metallic flakes, but it'll be matte, resulting in a Satin finish. The result is a futuristic storm trooper look, very badass. IMO it looks even better than the factory matte white.

Find a shop that does it and tell them to get a sample piece applied on the hood. You'll thank me later.

 

check from my dealer : we need to replace the headunit and it will be $5200AUD
and i did ask them to double check again maybe just need to do software upgrade

 

any one have the part number for the AMG performance media head unit ?
need to make sure my dealer order me right one

 

It's too bad it's not as easy as plugging in the OBD and upload the software.

 

Did you ever get the head unit? Is that all you needed to change?

 

No i never came around to do it. The quote was something around 6000 € so i passed, especially since there are no decent tracks in Finland.

I retrofit the AMG PERFORMACE STUDIO to one of W204 FL C 180 CGI and W212 E 350 CDI vehicle.

Its so simple to do it.
You are ordering the AMG PERFORMANCE STUDIO control unit and make the connections to the Can B, Can E and CAN A lines.
Then you are making software upgrade with the special softwares to Comand Head Unit with the Mercedes Telematics DVD 07/2014 , then everything works.
( After update Comand thinks that its retrofitted on SL Vehicle )
If your retrofitted vehicle has not got tire pressure system, only you can not see that.
Other functions are working.

Tire Pressure system is retrofit is so simple too.

Sounds very interesting, I am also really interested in retrofitting the AMG Performance Media in my 2012 C63. How much do the parts cost? The software update can only be performed by an authorized dealership?

The performance media is cool but with iApps that do the same and so much more I'm not sure I'd want to retrofit the AMG product into my car.
