I was kinda a little disappointed to see this, I think it kinda cheapens the brand. For example, when I got my C63, a dude that I knew saw it who knows nothing about cars but he said 'oh **** it's an AMG, I know what that means'.

Even if you own an SLS you can still respect the cheapest AMG as it has a mean NA V8 in it. Not happy, Jan.

Ever since MBZ bought AMG outright, they have a goal of expanding the brand which sometime does go as planned. I'd rather have a I135 (turbo charged 6) than a turbo charged 4 anyday.

I'm not sure I understand your example. Are you saying your friend knew it was a fast car, or that a c63 isn't cheap? Or you can't respect it cause it doesn't have a V8? I'm so lost. This A45 is not going to be cheap (50,000 euros or 62,000 USD/AUD), so 30-40 year old people will be targeted. If I saw an A45 AMG on the road I would say "Oh **** that's a sick AMG." If anyone likes cars they would think this thing is bada55. 340 hp coming from a 2.0 4 cylinder sent to all four wheels by a dual clutch transmission made by HPE is just insane! Mercedes says 0-62 in 4.9 sec and there number is always conservative. you can boost the turbo and put up a fight with M3's all day.This thing is going to be a monster. It's like a BMW 1M series or Audi RS3 nothing cheap about those cars.

My friend I was referring to had been in a lot of exotics (lot of super rich friends) and several AMG's. To him an AMG meant a big loud V8 type monster performance car, not a small trubbo. Don't get me wrong, I like those types of cars too, my last car was a WRX and I loved that thing, but a car like the A45 dilutes AMG the same way as if Lambo were to make a smaller turbo V6 (which I'm sure is in the works dammit!!!)

I think the A45 sounds sensational.
We've had nothing to do with AMG until we bought our new C63 this year, but the "ownership experience" that comes with owning an AMG designed/engineered car is growing on us every day, as we learn to appreciate what fine vehicles these cars are.
AMG are VERY particular about what they do, about maintaining their image/standards/engineering & PERFORMANCE, as a driver's car, & I'm absolutely certain that the A45 will embrace all of this, as well as perhaps being more of a volume seller than some of the larger, more expensive models.
Wifey is VERY keen.

There was an evo with 405 hp from a 2.0 stock for UK markets but it has huge turbo lag. Hope that's not an issue here.

Excited about this car though. Good entry level AMG

Since that car is getting a DCT transmission, I have a feeling all AMG's in the future will go that route.

I don't know about this...I always felt that AMG was left to the beefier engines in select cars...

I don't know why they would do a 4 in AMG...

As much as I like to see a zoom zoom version of every model MB makes, I think that there are some models that should go without an AMG version.

However, as I was writing this, I was thinking to myself... I hope MB doesnt make a B class AMG... well here you go fellas

never knew Canada was one of the highest AMG per capita in the world...

how is this different from bmw coming out with M versions of whatever series? i say go for it! the 1M was limited but i don't think it was terrible

This car looks really cool. It's got DCT, AWD, and a nice turbo motor. I'm sure this car will be fun to mod and drive hard.

As far as AMG hurting it's image with this car, I just don't see how anything can be as bad as MB/AMG offering one of the words ugliest vehicles -- MB R-class -- in an AMG 63 package.

Whether or not you guys like it the MPG's gotta start getting better and a 4 holer is the way to do it and still make damn good power (with FI of course).
