Reducing toe in, anyone?..
I had an alignment done. I asked them to reduce my toe in to 0.25 degrees.
I believe spec is 0.28-0.52
Anyone else reduce their rear toe, if so to what?? Im wondering if I should have reduced it even more.

I gave my alignment tech specs F&R including reducing rear toe...I'll have to find the sheet but I think the end result of the alignment was still fairly random, meaning no spec was nailed as I requested. The car steers great though, he managed to get rid of the left-drifting tendencies that the prior MB tech at my other dealership couldn't.

Most people reduce their toe to neutral to counteract tire wear and improve the snap back from drifting refer to link below.

Resurrecting this old thread...
Apparently spec is .4 per side for .8 total toe. My mechanic about fell out of his chair and figured this was to help folks who just don't know how to drive a high HP rwd car from ending up in the woods on their first day of ownership.
So, for anyone who's lowered their toe - any feedback?

so what's the consensus here on rear toe? .15 -.25 seems to be the range everyone is going for depending on weather conditions and preference. Does that sound about right? Might be going in for an alignment soon and would like to have this done as well.

i told them i wanted .28 and they had it at .35 and didn't want to change it to .28. Kept telling me "it's only a hair off" and I didn't care too much to make a fuss, at least until I can see how much life I get. It's been about 5k miles and I still have about 60-70% tread left on my MPSS

Decided to go with .25 per side for my car with H&R coil overs and MPSS 265x35 on the stock 18's. Manufacture's spec was .40. We'll see how it goes.

My shop was actually able to get mine to 0!!!!! I cannot tell you guys how much better it is....on the street it is just a TAD livlier cornering under acceleration... But the tire wear, GONE!!!! My 1st set lasted less than 4k miles, since I had it taken out I am at about 11k miles on this set and have PLENTY of good tread life left

The copy of the alignment sheet I have for a 2012-2014 204 (C) AMG M156 03/2011 on what looks to be a MB Dealer printout has 0*15' as the spec for rear toe. When I measured my car stock OEM (I bought it used but don't see any modification to the suspension) measured 1/64" per side or 1/32" overall for the rear toe-in. According to the converter I used that is 0.04* or 0*2.4' per side or 0*4.8' overall. Since then I lowered it on KW V3 and it measures out to 0*0'. I think I will leave there and see how it goes.

You don't "need" any toe in for the rear. Your toe changes while suspension compresses. Adding toe in for the rear helps with bumpsteer to keep the rear in check during a tight corner.

Yep, took all of the toe out of my 08 when I mounted the 275's last month. Car still handles well and I am hoping that I have doubled the tire life

if you track the car then YES you will feel a difference in the handling, but for everyday use it is pretty transparent

And you would have to be a pretty serious track racer to notice the difference.
Pushed mine pretty hard on a very twisty North Carolina / Tennessee road last week and didn't notice a difference.

I'd argue that with less rear toe in, the car handles better at the limit. FWIW, I set my toe to the same settings as the non AMG C Classes. It's been a while, can't remember what the actual numbers were.
edit - found my old discussions on it.

"I personally settled for .25 setting for the summer which suited my driving style, and ran .15 in the winter which was magic in terms of freezing weather straight line stability."

haha sorry, I swear I linked it to page 4 where my posts started. Figured it's worth a read for those that haven't seen it, some technical discussions on what toe is actually doing to the handling.
