Considering trying to get used lease on 2010-12 plus trade in C250
I bought the wife a 2012 c250 sedan in January with all the neccessary options. Her family only buys mercedes but this is the first Mercedes I've seen in a while with a decent interior and acceptable tech package.
Well forward to now and we have more family living with us including their 500SL so no room for my fun car I wanted to buy within a couple years...it has to be a Mercedes C class sport body for her and fast for me so the C63 is the only option for us.
So now I want to do a straight trade in of our 2012 c250 sedan for a 2009-2011 C63 or...Do a used or new lease for a C63 sedan. I would prefer the lease on a used 2012 which is rare but am wondering how hosed I will get beyond the trade in haggling if I like the car and want to keep it at the end of the lease?
Is a lease a bad idea with this type of vehicle if I want to keep it at the end? The positive seems to be that maybe I could avoid another large down payment just to make up for the depreciation hit on my trade in, but beyond that I'm not sure.
I'm pretty much ready for a 1000+ a month payment for a car which is crazy to me growing up with practical parents, but you only live once and strapping new hardware to our c250 to go faster isnt as appealing as a C63.
I am not sure you can do a straight up trade. even for a CPO C63. Most likely you will need to throw in some $$. but then that depends on which year you want your C63. Does your wife / you like the facelift W204? if you are used to it already, make sure you guys will be ok of going to the prefacelift W204.
I read that you would prefer to lease a used 2012, this seems most logical to me. Maybe just monthly payment the difference between the price of the 2012 and the trade in value.
That said, your first step should be to get the dealer to give you a trade in value first on your C250. That might help you make your choice.
Lastly, you should've just went AMG in the first place
however, once you get your C63, all the financial issues will just be a thing of the past. GL
I dont think she really minds the outside differences too much as long as its an AMG model as they all look good.
She hated the interior of the pre-facelift models we saw, but they had spartan black plastic interiors with the ash wood interior that she didnt like.
She really likes the Burl Wood in her 2012 which I thought would make a pre-2012 model look at least okay to her.
So I'm basically looking at a used 2012 first and then a pre-facelift second to lease or buy.
I'm just not sure if leasing is a good option through Mercedes if I plan to buy at the end of the lease anyway. I would basically only use it to make the dealer absorb as much of my depreciation hit on the C250 as possible while also paying less monthly and hoping that the new C class is out by then which will make the C63 cheaper to buy...
Not sure if that made sense either.
Got our c250 in January and between me and my wife we got 4%, it was their best rate at the time, crazy.

Should be getting a call back soon, If I can get low interest and a decent price I'll bite on it this weekend.
The car has only been on the lot about 20 days to a month or so.
2012 Sedan with a little over 3k miles, Pal Silver, Red and Black custom interior with the CF trim, lighting, navi etc. So most of the basic neccessay stuff I require. Don't think it has the LSD though, but I'll check.
They were asking 65k then just under that recently. So might ask to get enough for my car to do about a 4 grand pay off and then offer 58 to 60k on that car and see what they say.
I'm sure theyll call today and tell me theyll give me 8 grand less than I owe on my car and then sell me the C63 for 64k asking price or something.
Well see how intimidating I can be negotiating over the phone

To lease it would be $1,400 ouch
And to buy it would be $1,200 at 66 months I believe.
I'm hoping that included tax.
Since they have only had the car for almost a month, I'll probably end up letting it sit there and check back later to see if its still there, especially if they dont give me a reasonable trade in value and go down at least 2 to 5k on their asking price.
The buy option is fine for me if I get restless I guess, but I usually refuse to pay the asking price on a used car, especially if they will make money on my trade in too...
The new C250 we bought in January went down 5k from sticker right away at least since they were going to work me for my trade in by about the same amount lol
1. Trade In:
2012 C250 with approximately 7,500 miles had just under 44k sticker in January 2012 will get me 32k for trade in and I will add 4k to pay off loan.
2. Buy:
2012 C63 with just over 3,000 miles has most required options like nav, upgraded radio, lighting package, Designo leather seating, Carbon Fiber interior package etc.
I think it was about 71k new they said and they are asking $63,XXX or $69,XXX OTD.
72 month payment (60 was within a 1/4 percent, no 1.99 for this one) is $1,029 with tax and fees.
The monthly is fine with me but am not sure if I am leaving more money on the table. They originally asked for just under $65k and are now closer to $63k figured I might have a shot at something closer to 60k, but what do you guys think?

if you guys are serious about getting the C63, haggle for another thousand or two then sign the deal. And once you sign, dont worry about the price anymore and compare what deal you got. these cars will definitely depreciate over time so the longer you wait the 'deal' gets better vs the original one. And I've found different regions have different prices too.
Plus, I am not sure where you live but for us Canucks, summer time and the C63 is a great combination. If you get snow where you are, the thrill wont be as high when you roll out the C63 from the dealer and have to ease up on the peddal as you slowly make your way home.
just my 2cents.
