TPM Sensors and Winter Tires

For those who mount snow wheels and tires onto their cars, can you swap out the TPM sensors from your summer tires onto the snows?

Even if that is possible, it may be more trouble than its worth. I am tempted to get 4 new sensors for my snow setup.

I'm getting 4 new ones when I get mine. Also, I'm planning on getting the same size wheel all around so that I can rotate snow tires.

It's easier to just get 4 new sensors. I just bought 4 from ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/TPMS-Tire-Pr...fbbdec&vxp=mtr

do you have another set of rim for those snow tires? if you do get a new set, yes they are reusable but not worth the trouble.

Thank you all for your reply. New TPM sensors are being installed as we speak.

it gives me tire pressure monitor sensor incorporative "no wheel sensor" light & keep flashing. I remember I didn't buy TMPS sensors for my new wheels so.. that might be the cause

Replied to ur PM, and recommended u to buy some aftermarket sensors to save money. At least that's what I did for my ISF & it works flawlessly.

for you Canadian's who drive their C's in winter, how has that worked out for you? I live in Wash DC so we get minimal snow but I have been curious as to whether I need to invest in some snows for this winter season since my wife is driving my ML most of the time.

Definitely get snow tires, u don't need snow to slip & slide.. Anything below 10C can become dangerous with summer tires.

I got a square setup for my winter tire/wheel setup so I could rotate them front to back easily.

Downside is they are directional so you cannot swap side to side unless you get them flipped on the wheels.

Does car need to be programmed via Star to recognize the additional sensors? And can the car accepts two sets of sensors?

None
I just got a new set of rims fro my 2015 E63, and had the wheel shop provide the TPMS sensors. They were able to match the sensors to the car - no trip to the dealer was necessary.

I suspect the same would be the case for the C63.

From what I understand, no special programming is required. Mine required some attention because one of the sensors installed was dead, so the onboard system initially displayed an error.

I installed two new sensors in my E550 after metal caps got stuck on the stems. No re-programming was required. I made sure I got the correct part which was A0009057200.

I run my winter setup without TPMS. I decided just to deal with the warning light for the winter months and monitor tire pressure regularly, which i do anyway.

really? darn I did not know that!
so I have no TPMS in my 09? does that mean when I buy new wheels that require a shorter valve stem to clear the brakes I don't need to worry about it then?

No tpms for ur 09, just mount & drive.

And u can use square set up on ur OEM wheels in winter. 235/40/18 all around.

No programming at the dealership required for ppl who needs tpms from what I read. The car should be able to recognize both tpms if they secobd set is clone properly.

Get a square set up so you can rotate them front to back.

What type of driving will you be doing?

Bought OEM today instead of EZ sensor. I was told I might have to go to the dealer to do the Star thing... but they (Kal tire) will do their best to make it work.

One for the things Merc did 100% right. No need for OEM unless you like to spend extra money. Get the correct frequency for your car 433 mhz and ur done. They will recognize and work within a few miles of driving.

I have an OEM staggered setup but with same size tires all around. I got the tires for free practically brand new so I decided to use the setup. Its actually not bad at all on the stretch, in fact i cant even call it stretch. But in any case, I am a bit of a Michelin fanboi and use Michelin PA3 tires now. Once these go out, will move up to PA4.
