Extended Warranty Costs for my 2009 C63 AMG
#26
My dealer suggests this pricing is for a entry level C Class and not the AMG.
===========================================
Eric…these prices are for a C class with Mercedes…not an AMG. Yours IS a C63 correct?
Not sure who gave them to you, however, I am looking at the pricing now and those prices are for the first level vehicles, i.e. C, CLK, GLK and SLK. The AMG’s are 3rd level.
The pricing I gave you is Mercedes Benz pricing for their own New car warranty.
It does include a 15% surcharge they charge that I would be willing to pay for you plus an additional $100.00 off for the internet special we are running…
So, the 3/75,000 miles through MERCEDES BENZ would be $3499.00 opposed to the original quote of $4125.00
I hope this helps.
Thanks for at least giving me the opportunity to help.
Have a great day!
=================================
I'm pretty certain but I have to ask you. Was your quote for an AMG or an entry level C?

As I posted in another thread this is what I got quoted from a dealer in NY
all are for 3 years:
75k miles $3499
100k miles $4999
125k miles $6199
Does anyone know if I have to get the ELW before the original warranty expires. I think I only have a week left! Thanks!

Sounds like some of you are calling from out-of-state or long distances to purchase your warranty.
What about the required inspection? How do you guys do that if your buying it from another dealer....

I'm also curious to know about this inspection issue. Very good point.

Since when is an inspection required?

As far as I'm aware, so long as you're still under some sort of factory warranty (New Car or CPO), it can be extended under the ELW. The only requirement is that you pay $.
There are several dealers across the US who make a decent amount of extra $ by selling the ELW to folks out of their region at a discount compared to most other dealerships.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong and there are exception cases...

Additionally, Mercedes-Benz Extended Limited Warranty coverage may be purchased at any time prior to the expiration of your original New Vehicle Limited Warranty.*
* Surcharge may apply if coverage is purchased 30 days after retail delivery, except in Florida, Wisconsin, and Puerto Rico. Contact your Mercedes-Benz Dealership for more details.

^^ Interesting GrnLantern, my dealership told me it would cost an extra 350$ in inspection if I don't buy the ELW when the vehicle is new.

Hmm, interesting. Would be good to get to the bottom of this and find out for sure. I'm aware that the ELW costs (15%?) more if not purchased within 30 days (most dealers insist it's at time of purchase, but I believe it's within the first 30 days of delivery)... But wasn't aware of any inspection requirement, especially if it's 1) under factory warranty and 2) well maintained -- both of which can be confirmed with simply your VIN.

Also, I believe the 15% surcharge for ELW's purchased after 30 days from the date of deliver is mandated by MBUSA, so dealers have no control over it.
Still, not able to find out anything about a required inspection...

Yeah, it'd make sense to require an inspection at that point, but I'm under the impression you cannot buy the ELW if you are no longer under the New Car or CPO warranty. This is from both their website and random MBWorld posts I've read in the past.

Yeah, according to http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/servic...parts/warranty, it's a requirement that the car still be under Factory Warranty for you to be eligible to buy the ELW.

Thx for the link GrnLantern, great infos... but no where they mentioned about the inspection.
Can someone who bought ELW (excluding time of purchase) confirms the mandatory inspection?

Roswell, are you taking the plunge on the ELW? I'm thinking of skipping the ELW since it's not my daily driver and will likely be putting at most a few thousand miles on it each year.

You can get extended warranty if you still under warranty w/o inspection, I guess you can get it after 30 days after your factory warranty expire, another secret is stop at the dealer an get your car a certificate of inspection, maybe cost you between $200 -$300 but will save you $600 - $800 maybe more on your extended warranty, is like turn your car on a CPO. Last month I got a pretty good deal on a extended warraty... you can PM me for info... I am not related to this guy, but got a good deal.

I'm only worry about the head bolt issue, but not sure what km or time lapse it could fail. I got a friend who had a 2008 with 28 000km & no problem & another one with a 2010 at 20 000km no problem as well. They are having me thinking now.

My extended warranty is not from MB but they required that I have an invoice of an inspection from a authorized MB dealer.. Probably something similar for the MB ELW.

MB requires that you still be under a factory warranty (New Car or CPO) in order to get the ELW. The point is that they're still liable for weird issues while you're under warranty, so if there's something wrong, it'll get fixed on their dime either under the New Car warranty, the CPO warranty, or the ELW which you are hoping to buy.
I've never been told an inspection was necessary at any time while shopping around for an ELW in the past. And I've called as far away as NY (I'm in CA -- and made it clear to them that I'm definitely not local).
