Hey Guys-

I am getting vastly conflicting info on these tires. I've read a dozen or so reviews and have searched this site to get the straight scoop from owners.

Will you please weigh in with your opinion if you have actually owned or won these tires on your car?

I'm in Seattle and my CLS55 is used as a DD I drive on the 'spirited' side. I will put ~25k per year on the car so cost-effectiveness is a consideration. The new tires will be mounted on 20's. I'm going 255/30's in the front and 305/25's rear.
Car is lowered with a Renntech EML.

TIA

If you daily drive in Seattle you may want to look at the Vredestein ultrac sessanta, they're great in the wet. I also had the v12 on my C63. But don't know if they have your size in the vreds. If I remember the v12 was an adequate tire, not great, but not bad. It was good for the price. They were also a bit on the soft side.

You get what you pay for. They are a cheap replacement for the C63 and you can tell the difference from the Pzero or the Conti. If it isnt 85 degrees you wont hook up.

I have put about 3k miles on the set I installed a few months ago (I drive 100 to 150 miles a day unfortunately, 50 each way to work plus lunch and whatever else I need to do).

I will state that if you plan on tracking your car, do not get these. The sidewall is very squishy and while they track well in straight lines and to some extent cornering, if you have to pull an emergency maneuver, like say avoiding a deer, hard left then right or vice versa, the car feels like a boat rolling around in heavy seas. I do not get a feeling of confidence with these tires, and once this set is toast, I will be replacing them with something else, or when winter comes (whichever comes first)

I tried those on my C55 and I have to say that is a very good tire for what you pay. They lasted 9k-11k miles more or less (average driving). When compared against the Bridgestone's 760 Sport the Ventus had a lower road noise and little more grip in the wet. My C63 came with Pzeros, and I'm seriously considering buying those again as soon the Pzeros are worn out.

they are good for the first 4000ish miles then they get hard and dont hook....and they suck in the winter...i suggest conti dws ....ive cut 1.8's 60fts....and they are great in cold weather too.

I have them right now on the rears. They are a great value for the money. They even have a nice sidewall. As far as driving, they are very quiet, good traction on only slightly wet surface, DO NOT USE THEM IN RAIN. Quite sticky actually. Great tire for a car that eats tires...

Fine for the money
Not a track tire, but a track tire would wear through the rears in 3k miles

side walls are very square if you're in danger of rubbing it might be something to think about.

for the money they are average I guess I had a set on my c63.

I have them on my C320 Sport Coupe and they do fine there. They are pretty squishy sidewalls, but for that car for the money they work fine. When it came time to put new tires on my C63, I had them on the C320 and already knew they would not be goig on the C63. Ended up with Conti's and they work well. I'd expect them to be really nasty with that squishy sidewall and a pile of what'll feel like understeer.

Don't do it! I couldn't wait to get rid of them - soft sidewall does not inspire confidence even though they grip fairly well.

Good tire for the price but not much else positive other than the cushy ride & low noise.

got them on my CLK 63 - they are so so, and not good after 1 year, then they get hard

Will not put them on my C63 when it arrives

I have put on 3 sets on in the rears and 1 on the front and dont regret it. Good bang for the buck. Much better than the OEM's IMHO. Especially as a DD, it will last a long time.

I had them on two of my M3s. Can't complain. Great ride, but I never tracked them so I can't really chime in there.

I currently have a set on my HRE, no complain so far... I actually love the fact they are quiet.

As JeffDL said, they have square sidewalls so more prone to rubbing. I might have to downsized from 275 to 265 on my next set or change brand cuz I have slight rub on the passenger rear.

Had them on my M3 and regretted it everyday. Wish I hadn't cheaped out.

"Deceptively quick” was Car & Drivers review. They said they felt soft and slow but beat all the others on the track except the PS2.

I like the soft feel, low noise and knowing they will hold when they need to.

They are good value but very few of us here are race or professional drivers so trying to extract all that at the limit handling is a moot point. Like others have mentioned, they are serviceable but there are better, albeit more expensive, options out there that will deliver more performance to the average enthusiast. When it comes to suspension & handling, subjective feel & confidence are much more important than numbers.

Plus, they are numerically much slower than the current newer generation of tires. C&D compared them to the older crop... no PSS, no S-04, etc...

Had 2 sets of Hankooks on the C63, for the price they are great tires but too "squishy" on hard turns. Sidewalls flex too much but over all good tire. Tread life is adequate, then again no tire on a C63 will survive very long.
I'm actually using the Michellin Super Sport right now and surprisingly they've lasted me a long time considering I went through about 4-5 sets of tires in 20k miles. The Michellins cost more but they will save you some cheddar in the long run. I can safely say they are the best street tires ive ever driven on.

MPSS are the best street tires for sure. I wish they made them in more sizes.

I don't know how you guys do it but my Hankooks lasted me about 20K kms. The rears were toast but the fronts still had a decent amount of tread left but I couldn't stand them any longer so I swapped all four out for some Michelin PSS.

It was a night & day difference in terms of cornering stability and confidence! The PSS don't ride as nicely but they do everything else so much better than all other tires I've tried.
