Engine cover metal clip
So previous owner or someone who worked on the engine lost one of the metal clips that is supposed to hold the plastic engine cover down on the C63 went to the dealership they told me you have to buy the whole plastic cover to get the clips. So I checked the EPC myself and unless we both aren't looking in the right place its apparently true.
Anyone have any ideas where I could get one ? Different car manufacture?

Try checking for body clips at an auto parts store. They might have the same or similar that will work.
There is a thread in here somewhere about this issue if you can find it in a search.

I was searching ebay last night for trim clips found some that are close but not exact.
I was even looking for another Benz cover I'd buy one from like a 4 cylinder but they want a fortune still for even a used one.
This is just another one of those stupid things manufactures do... I know why because they like $$$$ I like $$$$ too so I am not going to pay for a new engine cover I'll figure something out.

Btw, remove it yourself before EVERY visit to the dealer. I care more about the clips that lodge themselves in the engine grooves and cracks than them being missin altogether.

I like the cover, but I don't use all the clips. It's hard to take it off without cracking it or bending the clips even if you're doing it yourself. Leaving a couple of clips off makes it safer and easier to remove.

will definitely remove prior to service though, i agree.
well, i'm definitely leaving it off until i find a clip but it certainly doesn't look as good without it :flirt:

so a while back my friend who is a MB dealer parts guy walked back to one of the techs and they happened to have one of the clips like the one i was missing.
i thought about ways to secure them and decided to safety wire them together, lol.
we'll see if they still clip on with the wires there - i think they will.

I looked quite a lot a year ago, lots out there but no luck, and I had the same result as others from the dealers parts, not available. Good news , the last time dealer serviced they put one on, I'm sure the mech must have had a found one. Good thought about pre service shroud removal.

Each time you remove the cover put a SMALL dab of grease on both male/female parts. The removal will be very easy then.
I will look at them next time and see if the bubble pak isle at the local parts store has any thing which could be pop riveted on.
