Hey shaina congrats on the car! A fellow med school prospect!! Il be going to colorado state med school next september. I put it off this year cause I want to try to get into Drexler uni's optometery program. If only I could get into a canadian school. Ahhh that would be fun

Hi multani! I heard Canadian med schools are even harder to get into than the US! But yepp another fellow medical school person (hopefully) over here. I am still slaving away my last year of undergrad with neuro science and biochem. Eek the craziness, I actually just left lab about an hour ago after being there for 4 hours. But good luck in med school in sept!

Hi bsmooth 7! Hah I do dig AMG’s. If I could eat, breathe, and sleep, them I would. But then I would fail out of school and that would be bad. Haha. But I have been into cars basically half my life at this point. Since I was 11.
As for getting the car, if I see something that I like I got to have it. It’s like an addiction. Plus I have been talking about this car non-stop since last January so pretty annoying around the house. Hah. So it's pretty for sure at this point.
Haha but I heard you have a girlfriend bsmooth7 she might not be very happy with me giving you my number. Also that sounds like it might get complicated but at least with this car I’ll potentially be able to out run her

Hi Sheep! I am sorry for accidentally skipping over your post but I am glad I read it! I think I will pick up a Navi before I go just in case. Also I have the unlimited data also on my iphone so will that still work even in germany? And your idea of the Xerox copying of IDs and VISA or I guess passport is genius! Thanks again and I will definitely be doing my research on the navis before I leave. Sorry again for the late response :/

roaming charges isnt really a big deal tbh. just call your carrier before your trip and tell them you will be travelling and planning to use the iphone. they will tell you to buy a roaming package so you dont get charged insane amounts. when i travel for business, i pay $100 and all my overseas useage is taken care of.

Can't you also unlock your phone and pick up a local sim card? When I studied abroad, I purchased a cell phone in country. To call the US I just used calling cards. Or you could use Skype/Google.

Come to think of it, I think it was a prepaid phone I bought overseas. I think you can make cheap international calls from your iPhone with a Skype app though. I haven't done the math, but I would think it would still be better than roaming.

Btw since you were in the army my mom was wondering if there are any bases, navy, marine, etc. in the southern germany area? She just wanted to know in case of emergencies

Thanks for all your responses! I mainly wanted to use my phone to call back here to the states while I am gone to check on my dad and my little puppy and also in case of emergencies like a flat or CEL light thing comes up.

But again thanks for everything As for a phone, any cheap unlocked GSM phone will work, and all you need is a local pre-paid SIM card for it when you get to Germany. but if you don't want to guess, just buy the cheapest pre-paid phone from like Vodafone and you will be all set.
To be honest with you I am single too, but just want to keep myself in check. There are a lot of differences on how people behave online vs. offline, but I rather keeping my conducts professional at all times.

No problem, and I REALLY hope it won't get so bad that you need to get the "cool guys" for help. However, both EUCOM and AFRICOM are at Stuttgart which is about a 30 mins drive from Affalterbach (AMG), so there will be no shortage of "help" in the area when you need it. If you want to be EXTRA careful, then you can register yourself with the register yourself with the State Dept. during travel. Keep a copy of all necessary contact numbers with you (e.g., US Embassy, home, hotels, friends, family, and etc.) at all times in case you lost your phone or someone has to dial for you in an emergency.

Sheep you are too cool! Honestly! I really appreciate all this info. I think you mentioned you are Asian too right? So you kinda gets the paranoia yada-yada especially from the older folk. I love your ideas and probably will be messaging you before I leave to make sure I have covered all bases. My dad was in the navy but he has been out of the loop since he retired. hah.

I imagine there would be a jailbreak by then. Lots of companies have made it a business so I'm sure they'd want to keep up the trend. Just make sure you take it to a reputable shop so they don't try to swap your phone out or something sketchy like that.
