Cool Track drivers need your opinion.

I found this removable rear wing by RENNtech. Wondering what opinion you might have. Does the C63 sedan need more downforce at the track?

I like the fact that its removable.

http://www.renntechmercedes.com/www/node/860

It def. looks way cool. But at 4k its quite expensive piece considering I only do maybe 8 track days a year.
Are there less expensive options for a removable wing out there.

Appreciate your feedback, Thanks'.

Thats a very nice piece but there are many other options that will accomplish better track times. Focus on the suspension(KW adjustable), wheels(light weight) and tires(Toyo R888), rotors(lighter 2 piece), and other weight reductions. The rear does not need additional down force with some additional traction in the rear. The car is extremely nose heavy and you need to steer with the rear end at times.

Dad you ever try RE-11s?

I agree. Save your money and use it else where.. Carbon fiber hood, 2 piece rotors, etc like Dad said.

I've run the RE-11 and they are awesome. One of my favourites. The R888 that Dad notes are a step up though as they are a true R compound.

I would spend the $$ on sticky tires. Unless you are running Daytona's nascar configuration. On a track like Palm Beach you would have much more fun braking later, turning faster and being able to use all of our power sooner exiting every turn. vs the little bit of downforce you'd get with a wing.
My old track car seemed like a different car with street vs. track tires.

Race Tires and wheels FTW... get a set of Kumho 710's and 18" wheels... less money... and night and day difference in handling.

Peace,
Dave

Thumbs up Thanks'

Thanks for the replies. The Dunlop tires I have now are super and there performance on the track with the corrected air pressure for the track are well beyond my current driving ability .... Lol

All your advise appreciated.
I guess I've been bitten by the mod bug... the wing looks really cool.

The wing does look cool... and for that... then buy it. But it won't help at all on the track with street tires.
