Park assist also a lazer jammer?

I have heard where some parking sensors can interfere with Laser speed traps. Apparently Nissans adaptive cruise control system also works as laser jammer although this was not its designed function.

I notice when I drive in the vicinity of some electrical frequencies such as electric doors in shopping centre car parks my parking sensors sometimes go off, so it got me thinking our parking sensors might also create interference to Laser Speed guns like the G9 Gauardian and the Laser Pro Park systems which are purpose build Jammers with duel use as park assist.

It won't work. Laser jammers can be used as parking sensors but not the other way around.

Yeah I thought it was a long shot.

Wonder then if anyone with park assist been zapped by the lazer gun and had their park assist light up?

I have parking sensors and have been pulled over by laser speed trap. I did not notice if my 'P' sign came on tho. My escort 9500 definitely lit up, but it was too late..

Time to get laser jammers when spring comes..

I'm afraid a laser jammer would just pi$$ an officer off... It's just such a blatant admission that you intend to speed a lot.

I've got the Distronic adaptive cruise control on my car and when I drive with my friends, my car's Distronic always sets off their radar detectors. I guess it's possible the Distronic radar can disrupt a policeman's radar gun?

Laser is light, that is why it it legal to jam it. Radar is a radio frequency, regulated by FCC, and to jam it, you need a FCC license.

Uhh, not exactly. Nebraska, Minnesota, California, Utah, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and DC have all banned the use of jammers (radar AND laser).

The problem with jamming a laser signal is that you effectively have to 'flood' the receiver with the correct spectrum of light, such that it can't make a valid assessment of your velocity. Usually, in doing so, the receiver generates an error code, which merely alerts the officer manning the unit that you're probably running a jammer. Which in one of those states means you'd probably get a larger fine than the speeding ticket.

I never understood why laser jammers were legal anywhere. When we speed we are breaking the law. Being permitted to use a device that stops the police from enforcing the law doesn't make sense. We may not agree with the law, we may not like the law but it is what it is. A device that allows you to break the law should also be illegal IMO.

Having said all of that, I'm not against owning one or using one because it is no different than deciding to speed. That is, you decide to break the law speeding and if you get caught you pay the price. What I don't understand is why any place (state or province) would allow you to use a device that enables you to break a law and hide that fact. Kind of like this... I'm robbing a convenience store and a cop sees me so I decide to use a tazor on the cop so he can't "catch" me. Well, that would be illegal and a lazer jammer isn't really any different (other than severity).

I guess that's why lazer jammers have PDC functionality so they have a purpose other than breaking a law and then it is up to the user to determine whether to use it in that capacity.

Our government selectively enforces all laws. Take driving slow in left lane,
Have you ever seen anyone pulled over for that? Passing on right? etc.
Well now I will pay attention to laser jammer laws per state.

Remember most researches show that speed traps and red-light cameras do not decrease the number of accidents. All those are nothing other than revenue generating machines.
