Sounds and feels like a completely different car! I thought it was simply a throttle response calibration, but the transmission is completely different, holding high revs longer, making me smile more.... just sayin', pleasant surprise for me.

It's supposed to improve fuel economy (C == Comfort Efficiency), it's also the mode these cars were emissions certified in, which is why it has to always default to C when you start your car.

Interesting, I always tested previous C63 in M mode. Same happened when I check mine for the first time (I wanted to compare the trannies since I owned a C55 before). I only switched to S mode after the first month.

Not sure if everyone's is the same, but hard braking from 4th to 3rd=loud burping. Everyone should try it.

Every other day, I also discover what a huge difference the s mode makes to the fuel economy :-) So i use C for commuting to work and S/M on weekends.

What year is your car? I think it started to default to C mode on start up in the 2010 MY.

Love the bark the exhaust makes in S+ mode upshifts. I probably did a 1st to 3rd gear pull more than 30 times (jk I respected the car too much to do it more than 3 times in a row)

On every freeway on-ramp I downshifted to 2nd and blasted through top of 3rd/middle of 4th.

Damn this car is so much fun it's stupid.

Mine defaults to S as well when I start it up. MY2009. I don't think there's a way to start it in M.

I just recently rode around in C mode for a few weeks just for kicks.. I saw NO difference in fuel economy.. HAVE FUN WITH IT !! S+/M

Mine never defaults to C. It always stays in the mode that I switched it off in (Always Sports). The problem is that S is not good for cold start ups. It's too rough on cold start ups so I always switch it to C mode until engine temp stabilises and then it's S all the way.

I don't understand why C/S/M would make a difference at startup.

For me it's rougher and more jerky in Sports on cold start so I always switch back to custom which seems to have less powerful / smoother gear changes.

This is true for me as well MY'09. Accelerator inputs are a little more sensitive than "C" until temps are up. Could be the 1st gear vs 2nd gear difference.
