How often do you guys drive on M mode

I use it as soon as I start the engine every time, specially love listening to the downshifts.

Will the transmission be ok for a long run?

In stop go traffic (rarely) I leave it in C.

M is when I really like to take over (the blipping business)

I generally leave it in C until it's warmed up and then it goes to M or S+

I'm like a jet pilot. back out of garage, unfold mirrors, put it in m, sport mode traction control...

always the same button order.

Same here. I leave it in C till it hits 176 and then I switch over to S+ or M. Though if I am on the freeway with moderate to heavy traffic I switch back to C to save gas since I won't be able to play around anyway.

M around town, S+ on the highway. C shifts wayyyyyy too early for my taste.

M mode every day all day. C only in snow storms and even then sometimes M for better control. I absolutely HATE the kick down in auto mode because you have no real control. Auto sucks and is no fun... manual mode is the sweet spot

All the time except for heavy traffic (C) and the highway (S+ which goes into M if I feel the need... the need for... ).

I drive in M when I want the aural entertainment of the throttle blips. At the track, I leave the transmission in S. The manual paddle shifting is just not responsive enough and has the additional downside of driving up temps at the track.

I push the start button. I twist to M. Then I click my seatbelt. Right now, I can't even put it in sport mode the car is calibrated to be unhinged.

On the way back from dinner tonight, i had a lexus IS-F next to me at the traffic light. When it turned green, both of us gunned at the same time and i was surprised to see how quick the ISF is! I pulled couple of car lengths on him upto 60 and thats when he started to inch ahead and i slowed down since its a public street even though it was empty. My point is that i was in M mode all the way and even shifted earlier once. i get a feeling, i could have done better in S mode. I dont feel good abt the fact that the lexus got so close and almost beat me.

I drive in C most of the time, dunno why but it sounds nicer to me lol. My C mode sounds heavy and deep. While S/M modes has crazy rasp. But the rasp is awesome whenever I feel like showing off the AMG sound

I also love M mode, just need to get the upshift timing better...not a huge fan of the paddle shifters as it is a bit awkward around turns esp on the curvy mountainous roads in the reservation I love driving on...I guess I am still too used to MT at this point....

The 8 speed transmission in the IS-F is waaaay better than any of the C63 transmissions.

Now introduce the fact that you'e shifting manually, and that introduces a li'l gap. The IS-F is fast. Not Faster though.
