Dad's CF Hood on my Car - Input Please
As some of you know, I purchased my car in August and while it was already modded, I have done some extra work to it. It already had Dad's CF hood on it and while the vents were left CF, the rest of the hood was painted to match the car's color.
Now I am thinking of two things:
1) Is it possible to remove the paint to go back to the CF look without damaging the CF and
2) If the answer to question 1 is yes, does anyone have a photo of a silver C63 with a CF hood on it? I'm thinking it may match up to my car's theme but at the same time am a bit worried it will be a bit OTT.
Input?
Thanks

Thanks Calmirro.
Derek, yeah man. Not quite decided.
Dad's, Yeah, that's the one thing that is going to bug me - the part that raises from the bonnet to the roof will not look so good being silver but then you can't do anything about that as the rear part of that leads on to the rear quarter pannel.
What tire size do you have on the rear?

From what I know when I tried removing the paint from a painted CF spoiler it took off the CF gloss coat and weakened it. Actually made it a dull white...kind of like when you put thinner or alcohol on lacquer...
Be careful Sam...I actually like the subtle dark vents and the color match...

That's the concern I have. I don't want to remove the paint only to have the cf underneath looking like crap and then have to paint the bonnet again. Ahhh well, will think of something else to do

i dont drive a car, cars drives me
I don't think there will be a problem removing the paint as long as you wet sand with 600 or 800 grit to remove all the paint, ones you are done removing the paint it will look like a flat white color you either keep sanding with 1500 grit and buff it or re clear coat it and then 1500 and buff all the shiny finish should come back up, I don't see any problem the thickness of the resin on carbon fiber hoods is about 5 times thicker than a any regular paint job on it so is really hart you brake thru the resin on the hood, but I will recommend let a professional body man do it
