Question REvving at stop lights...?

While on my test drive, I found myself putting it in Neutral at red lights to hear the Sound of the exhaust.

Am I the only one...?

You're the only one... I only rev in parking garage. Haha. I never do it at the stoplight unless I'm with a group of car guys acting a fool. :p

I don't do that at all.

Only in my garage or at parking garages.

I find it kinda douchey and pleading for attention... But to each their own.
(above comment is not directed at you) Just what I think when I see others do that at a light in my neighborhood.

Thank god AMG put a 4k RPM limiter on reving.

Imagine all the guys sitting outside movie theaters and red lights that would be bouncing it off the rev limiter.

Its not good for an engine to rev it without a load on it.

I would be lying if I said I never did this... but I only ever do it when no one else is around. I think it is kind of a douche thing to do as it just screams "please look at me, I need attention". So, I will do it when there aren't cars around because I love the sound but don't love the idea of looking like a tool.

Few months ago a kid next to me at a light asked me to rev it, of course I obliged.

Parking garages are fantastic for it. However, I usually put it in manual mode, TC off, 1st gear going slow and gun it (where there are no cars of course, and not in a parking spot, lol). You get more revs/bark. :P

I usually only rev it when someone asks me to. I have however also revved it when I pull up behind or alongside another C63 just to let them know I'm there.

I happily oblige anyone wanting to hear me rev. From the occasional HS kid to the enthusiast, they always give the thumbs up. The best is when they're really surprised at how mean it sounds "for a German sedan".

Sometimes, i switch to N at a traffic light and when it turns green, i forget i m in N :-)
That is pretty much the only time. Apart from that i do in only in the garage when i am drunk and feeling 'high'. Lol

LOL, me too. Part of me feels like a douche when I do it on accident. Because if I'm revving, it's quick. When I think I'm taking off, it's a little slower and I push harder.

Thumbs up yes, REVerend...

I have been test driving the M6 and when one revs that one, it is pretty sedate until higher in the rev range where it Snap-Crackle-Pop's... It is not pleasing at all, and one has to test these nuances to be happy with the total package. After about 10 or so revs, and the fact that one has to really keep it in the higher rev range to feel like your moving, I was pretty annoyed by the whole thing.

The E39 M5 years 2000-2003 were a 6 speed manual. Everyone know's you have to blip the throttle to get revs up to drive off in first. Whenever I did that, I would get this metallic sound like lifters slapping against the heads. This issues occurred on both the 2001 and the 2002 M5 I owned! It felt embarrassing when I, or others heard it.

I never heard any type of metallic pinging with the C63's engine. That was a relief, and the testing process yielded only slight etiquette embarrassment...lol

I'm right there with ya. If I rev I think my ears start to bleed. Going through a tunnel is even worse.

I only drop it into neutral and rev it a bit in underground parking garages to set off all the other car alarms.

It sounds much better when it's under load and in gear vs in neutral.

I usually rev it once at the drive thru car wash. With resonator delete it sounds wicked. I don't do it to garner any attention, just like the sound. A little immature perhaps, but it satisfies the boy racer in me.
