Help Finding New Battery
mercedes recommended i get a new battery. they quoted me over $500. i'm assuming i can buy my own cheaper and just swap it out myself. does anyone have any good battery recommendations? any benefits of choosing one over another?

the stock battery is glass-mat which is like a gel-cell battery (like optima) So its going to be pricey in general for one of equal quality. Personally ive seen these batteries last up to 10yrs without issue. I wouldnt trust one that old, but they can work for a long time. Benz doesnt use batteries to just start the car, they always use them as a "shock absorber" for the electrical system. When they do the midtronics test it runs a/c current accross the battery to see how well it absorbs it. So it may function just fine starting the car but not be up to there standards for stabilizing the electrical system. Id stick to the oem battery as its a great quality piece, unless you want to get a badass super $$$ light weight lithium ion battery like a braille. oem should run 280$ish in parts alone.

as long as it say it'll fit correctly. optima's are pretty good batterys, the blue ones are the best- designed for lots of sitting and downtime like in boats. But like i said the oem ones arent bad by any means.

Optima makes a great battery. Here's a Group 49 battery that should be a drop-in, great battery too. IIRC in the $270ish range.

edit: Looks like the going rate is $330.

I wouldn't mind getting the OEM battery, but does someone have a link or a part #? I assumed it wasn't a mercedes part, but I guess it could be.
there's just so many options and I don't know the difference between any of them. saving weight would be nice, but is the battery going to last as long and be as effective?

lol, you do not want that light weight race braille one. the braille ones i was refering to are like 1k$ lithium ion < lol i think lambo is starting to use them. That light weight race one is lucky to start a high compression 6.2L v8 muchless not die with the rest current draw of the car sitting for a few days. cant go wrong with the factory one like i said ive seen them last a long *** time

This place is a joke.
Call MB roadside assistance, they will install the battery at your home and charge for the part only, labor is free..That should be less than $300...I highly recommend the factory battery. It fits right, it works right, and I've seen them last upwards of 7 years. See if there is a number stamped on the top of your terminals-the date code....Compare the price of the OEM battery lasting many years vs. a cheap alternative that may last 2 or 3 years.
