That's too slow. I want the car to shift in the future. Predestined shifts, if you will. So they just happen with no detectable sensation.

/end sarcasm.

You make a great point, Diabolis. A lot of people really crap on the MCT but it's a pretty fantastic transmission. If they cool keep it running cooler it'd be even better.

Where is this now? (definately not in the u.s.) Why would something with 400tq need 9 gears? diesels are usually the last car to get the new transmissions. Hell sprinter van's just now got a 7 spd. along with the new 4 cylinder diesel.

9 gears is a good thing even for performance cars. Think of the silly 6th gear in corvettes. Lets them do 80mph at 1500rpm and get 30mpg+. Ofcourse using 8 gears between rather than 5 makes acceleration that much better specially in a heavier car. imagine how many throttle blips you can get now

As for transmission ratings..... Ratings arent established with XXXX tq then it will grenade. It's more like xxx tq reliably for years of trouble free use. You think they rated 2jz-gte supra motors for 1000hp? they came with 320hp crank stock. record is around 1050 wheel-hp.

the thing with MCT is not the shift itself its the lag from the paddle (for me at least) thats annoying.

Btw i think i read somewhere that MCT will be carried over to the new C63

Agreed. Especially when downshifting and not being about to "double-downshift".

thats pretty much true for all auto gear boxes in cars shy of 400k$+
Yes there's quicker than mct or sls dct but they all lag unless it's super-car territory. If anyone dislikes the mct and thinks it's too slow... go drive a smart car

I would say my '12 GTR is pretty damn quick on the shift... As soon as you touch the paddle, your in your next gear. My CTS-V though had a lag (and it was annoying), greatly improved when a tune was installed.

GTR, Audi TT-S, M3 i've driven and the tranny felt way better. Heck even BMW X1 with 8 speed auto does not lag as much as our MCT

The 8-speed auto. you're likely referring to is the same one in the F30 335i. It is built by ZF and it is one of the fastest, best transmissions in the world right now (regardless of the fact that it's a true auto.).

That ZF auto is one thing I miss about my F30 M Sport 335i. It was the best transmission I've ever used in my life (responsive in aggressive driving and smooth in relaxed driving).

Is it possible that by any chance they will have solved the lag in the next "C63"?

I thought that as C Class will be 4Matic, so will C63, but AMG say it will not, and they said that only a few days ago?
Cheers, Pickles.

Might have missed that, where did you read that it won't be 4Matic finally?
