The DCT in the CLA can handle the lower torque. The DCT can't take the bigger push coming from the C63 or the E or CLS or S.
Fact of the matter is, that in 90% of street driving conditions the MCT is a better and smoother tranny. In the other 10%, they let the HP and Torque take care of whoever is pulling beside.
Ask any stock M3 with a DCT....he may shift quicker, but it won't matter when he's 3 cars behind

I was looking at the date under the picture (and I did read the text).
No worries though.

And BMW seemed to have no trouble equipping the new F80 M3 with one.
I don't see why it's so much to ask for the DCT?
The MCT is fine but it's just not as quick, nor as aggressive as a true DCT.
And this is on a stock standard DCT box. There is one guy with over 400+ launches on his 335is with original DCT. Has never had any DCT slippage. I am sure AMG Benz could develop an even stronger DCT if needed.
Driving my Benz + BMW back to back - I have to say that DCT is much superior and gives a more pleasurable driving experience.
IF the new C63 doesn't come out with a DCT then I am certain what ever box they use will be just as responsive. The new auto 8 speed BMW boxes are a good example.

Again, my point was that the DCT in the CLA cannot handle the torque

The only bit of info I can't find is what that new 2016 transmission is, if it's the new 9G transmission, which is already out in limited numbers in the E350 Bluetec, or a new dual clutch. There's tons of references to a new 2016 transmission for RWD/AWD cars in Daimler press releases.

N54 cars = Twin Turbo (first gen 335 engines) NEVER CAME WITH DCT. only Manual and Auto.
N55 cars = Single turbo (Second gen 335 engines) NEVER CAME WITH DCT.
Only BMW cars that came with DCT transmission are the M's.
