Rear tire size for C63

The 2012 C-63 comes with 255/35/18 rear tires. What tire size can I upgrade to without body or other modifications?
This may be an old question, sorry, I'm new here. Just got the car ...

The largest rear tire is probably a 275/35/18.

285s on 20s maybe but you might still have rubbing issues. 285s on 18s if you have a nitto DR or something with a really narrow width for a 285.

Remember you risk the tire looking too "fat" in height. I like 265/35/18

On stock suspension with stock wheels you may go with most 275. However on stock 18 wheels they will have a thick sidewall that bulges due to the tread width surpassing the wheel width. They will be fully functional on a straight line and maybe have a squashed feel when cornering. I second on Zeph's analysis and concur that 265 on stock 18s will have the best look and performance.

275/x/19 - Don't forget x is not a length, it's a ratio. If you wanna get wider tires, drop down to 30.

285/35/18s work - https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...-2010-c63.html

Probably not the best option for a 9in wheel.

http://www.nittotire.com/tire/nt555r#size - Nitto recommends a minimum rim width of 9.5" for the 285, and Nitto doesnt run as wide as others.

e.g. a Nitto 285 runs 11.22" wide, Michelin PSS 285s run 11.4" on 10" wheel.

I would go 275/35/18 max. I'm running 265/30/19 on my 19s and I think they look nice, any fatter and I think it would be too much.

It's one of the many brain farts on this car. I got in a cab this morning and admired their door lock pins. So much plastic and dumb stuff on the C63. Regardless, I smoked a BMW 1M on the way to the airport this morning. I sounded like a NASCAR when I blew past him. So many things they did perfect on this car. Life is a compromise. Just like my C63.

I agree, is hard to see when 350/370z's are running with much wider tires than ours... without any issues! I believe once I saw one 350z using 305/19 in the rears, don't remember the profile but it was really low. Those looked awesome. I believe the reason for this is the humble origins of the C63 (C-Class), and the fact that AMG didn't increased the rear wheel weel for the C63. M3's got that improvement, however...

Only the C63BS got that treatment

Like others, I'm running 275/30-19 (Michelin Pilot SS) on HRE P47 wheels with the P30 suspension. Looks great, works great...

It is a ratio for height of sidewall, not width of tire. The first number is the width in mm.
