Came home a little earlier and saw a beautiful red c63 with black factory wheels a few houses down from mine in Denton, still had a dealer plate. I was just curious if it was anyone running around on here.

Either way, the car looks great in person. First one I've seen up close.

Haven't seen that one around yet. Trying to group the DFW guys together though, and considering going to Crandall for a few runs this Friday, if you're interested.

Good deal. We usually park near the concession stand, should be my white Coupe and a Silver SL63 Biturbo or F10 M5 depending on what JumpinJim brings.

I'm interested in joining you guys in Crandall. Just bought a C63 a couple weeks ago. Would love to get it on the track.

Wrapped. Speed shield Dallas. Didn't like the dust collection. Had it removed. Looked tight though.

John,

Will be out of town on Friday, sounds like a blast. Maybe next time. Had the side markers and mirror signals wrapped at Speed Shield in Dallas.

Thanks for the compliment Garey C. We need to meet up at the Club meet John holds or Cars and Coffee in August. Sounds like we could start our own row of C63's with all of us on here.

There's no chance the M5 will be broke in by then and have the break in service done. So it'll have to be the SL63. Shod with DRs or not is still up in the air.

I'm definitely up for a C63 row at cars & coffee. Problem is getting there early enough.

Can you take a picture of your wrapped roof? I have a black P31 and curious if a carbon wrapped roof would show up much.

Friday would be a good opportunity to put it through the paces. It's so hot outside, you'll be elated when you come back in the fall and run a whole 1/2 second faster. Are you broken in already? Tuned?

This is the best pick of the wrapped roof. I removed it because it collected so much dust with the gloss black. We need to all get to cars and coffee. 6:45 and we could block off a row no problem. By 7:30 forget about it.

Trent - sorry for so many questions... where did you get your grille. I have been scouring ebay for the matte black grille, but they all say not for C63.

Completely forgot to check back in on this thing. Car looks great man. I really like the blacked out badges. I had something similar on a previous car. I don't think it was you though because the car I saw had a paper dealer tag. Unless you were in Denton Sunday night visiting a friend.
I have been itching to get my E out to the track but haven't had much time. Almost went to TMS a couple weeks back. I guess I need to branch out more, had never heard of Crandall.

Saturday September 7th is Corvette day out at Eagle's Canyon Raceway - explicitly stated "open to all". I am already signed up. If you want to track it, go out to ECR's website and click on 'Payments' in the upper right. Then scroll down and look for the event on 9/7. Print the forms, prep your car, got to have a helmet, and you're good to go. This will be my second time out there. I am looking forward to carving the turns more efficiently.

Here's my new cranium dome:

We still plan on heading to Crandall (Dallas Raceway) this Friday evening. If you've never been, it's generally not too busy, so a good place to go if you're a first timer. Would be interesting to have a decent AMG representation for once.

What time is everyone going? I'm in and have never had the car to the track yet. How many are going. we should set a meet up point. Also is a helmet needed?

I can vouch for me and one other, beyond that it's up to you guys. I'd shoot for getting there at 8:00 after the heat dies down, and park near the concession stand at the South end of the bleachers. Not too much foot traffic down there. Depending on how fast you are, they won't require a helmet. If you run in the mid to low 12's they'll usually tell you to bring one next time. Faster than that it's just smart to wear one. In my 07 E63 the fastest I ever ran in cool weather was a 12.4, or a 12.9 in hot weather, so you're probably safe w/o helmet unless you're faster than that. For reference, the fastest run in my C last friday was a measly 12.6 and that's with an OE Tune.

EDIT: I didn't look at your sig, thought you were the one with the E. You'll definitely be in the low 12s, maybe high 11s, so you might try to find a cheap helmet. It's just a good idea anyway.

Fingers crossed the weather holds -- they're hinting of a little rain, but it'd probably evaporate quickly.

Make sure you don't fill your tank this week

The rules are anything faster than 13.00 needs a helmet. Also you're supposed to wear pants, no shorts. How strict they want to be with those rules is up to them. Texas Motorplex they would throw you out. Had someone get told at Texas Motorplex they couldn't run because they had shorts on. Heck I was told I couldn't run anymore because I ran in the 10s without a full rollcage and fire gear. Dallas Raceway can be a little more lax and overlook things, but they do take notice of helmets and could give you a hard time.

Thems the rules, but from experience they let everyone wear shorts and don't require helmets unless you're quick. I'm definitely wearing shorts this week.
