ECU tune and regular maintenance at dealers

I've been contemplating on getting an ECU tune for a while now.
I bought the pre-paid maintenance package on the car, and was wondering if anyone has had any issues with the dealer for regular service if you have a tune? Were you upfront with your SA, letting him know about your tune before hand? Did you flash it back to stock and kept quiet?

I'm familiar with the risks related to warranty if the ECU tune causes a catastrophic failure in the car, but I was wondering if dealers would automatically flag you for having a tune in your car?

I flash back to stock and say nothing. No one has mentioned anything but I doubt they have really been digging for info on my tune.

Just bring car in and dont say anything. unless there is a reason for them to specicially check... The standard service doesnt get mb to look into your ecu

Use the handheld device and switch back to original tune before servicing and past 2 services, no one said anything.

Then switch back v4 tune afterwards.

How much you pay for pre paid service? I think mine was 2600 for 5 years plus the LSD flush. Feel like I got scammed, but glad I do not have to worry about costs at service..

Thanks for the responses. Time for me to get tuned.

I think I paid almost $3k for 5 years too. I'd normally have an Indy shop do the maintenance, except they don't provide loaners or a shuttle service.

Dealer wont care even if they knew. Only thing would cause them to care is if there was an issue caused by it.

What if the member doesn't have the OBD type tune? I had MHP tune with long tube headers and I brought my car for service. They never asked so I never told. I had my cam position sensor reflashed to learn all modes and my tune was intact.

I also had a CEL for misfire and again my tune was intact. Back to my point, not everyone has a hand held tune so your suggestion is questionable.

What did they do for the misfire? I also have a tune and LTH's.

I keep seeing the code for misfire on my torque app, but never had a CEL. I've brought it into the dealer and they tell me nothing is wrong. They did say that there is a certain threshold set by MB and the CEL will only turn on after it crosses that threshold so there could be a problem, but until it hits that threshold they don't do anything.

I'd rather be proactive and keep the car in top shape rather than let a problem build up.

teachin of a cam sensor doesnt "reflash" anything. its a learning process not a reprogram or reflash etc... No ones going to go looking for you having a tune unless your having a drivability issue. Even then so, if its a component failure unrelated to the tune it doesnt matter. Now say you melt a piston, they are going to dig a little deeper.

speaking of resetting ECU, I think my dealers reset mine because it just doesn't feel the way it used to. Also I had a friend of mine who has a VW R20 tuned to around 350hp keep up with me from a roll. We did a run from 30-100 and he was at my back bumper. Threw me off bad, I thought I should have smoked him.
