how do i know if its tuned or not?
Hey, I just bought my 1st mercedes today and I was lucky enough to get a nice 09 C63! The car supposedly has a renntech tune in it but im not 100% sure. I thought when they are tuned the car will (while in C mode) will start in 1st but i noticed this one starts in 2nd, am I thinking right on this?
Is there any other way to tell right off other than dyno, cruise down to renntech, or go to the track? I would just go down to renntech since its just down the road but I'm working long hours at work for the next few week.
thanks
dicky

See if it will go over 186mph, most aftermarket tunes will eliminate the top speed limiter.
Or you can remove the ecu and inspect it and see if it has been opened, most tunes require the ecu case to be split and opened up, however you probably would not know what to look for.

My car is tuned and C mode still starts in 2nd. I would say throw it on a dyno unless you have a safe place to see how fast it will go.

right after my tune i noticed the throttle response was greatly improved. almost night and day. maybe you can try this if you've driven one you know is either stock or tuned.

I would find a nice stretch of empty road, do a 10mph roll against a fully stock c63, you don't even have to go fast, by 3rd gear it should be very obvious if you are tuned or not by how much distance you have put on the stock car

Just call Renntech, they keep files by VIN# if I am not mistaken.
If you are a car nut, come to FL2K this saturday. There is a caravan from the east coast thru Naples and to Brandenton. A bunch of guys are coming with C63s and a simple race will easily pinpoint if you have a tune.
There is a facebook event for that caravan on facebook

Click on the "see more" button to get details. It is going to be awesome

No it didn't there is no road going AMG that has ever left the factory with a top speed limit greater than 186mph. Even the famed CLK GTR was limited to just 178mph. The 186mph top speed limit is due to tire speed ratings, there is a thread in the AMG private lounge discussing this from a year or so ago.

Yea, I went and picked it up Sunday. They don't seem to like to deal there much at all. Not a bad deal since it already had the tune (or so I think) and tinted windows, other than the side markers and interior lights thats all I wanted to do anyway.
