Mercedes S55 AMG
Looking to get c63, advice needed
Hey guys, I'm looking into getting a C 63. Previously I had on an S 55 AMG, but the maintenance and repairs on that got a little bit out of hand so I had to let it go.
I'm looking at a 2009 with 79k miles for about 31k. Clean car fax, 2 owners.
Has: AMG SEATING PACKAGE, PREMIUM 2 PACKAGE, MULTI-MEDIA PACKAGE, 6 DISK CHANGER, HARMAN KARDON AUDIO, IPOD INTERFACE
Any idea if the mileage makes it a cheap and bad buy? It looks very clean, but I'd hate for it to start to be a repair nightmare.
Or should I be ok? I don't mind normal repairs, I just don't want to spend $6k in 1 year like I did on the s55.

Also, forgot to mention it has cpo until next year I think.
Brake jobs are worrying me a bit- from searching it seems like they can cost a few thousand- or have prices come down?

Broken seat plastic S class
I know you no longer have your S class. Perhaps you can answer my question anyhow. Bottom of plastic seat fascia broken on my 2002 S class for 3rd time on passenger side! Seems to be same as yours only on passenger side. It is the larger piece that has slot for seat belt. Not the piece with controls. On your diagram what is the number? Is it#4? Thank's gschonholtz@aol.com

Rondocap,
My suggestion is to think twice if you can afford a big repair again. The C63 engine seems to be reliable but again, it is a AMG hand built so if something goes bad I am sure it would be very expensive.
I had a C63 and I had a few misfires. My car was tuned and had long tube headers but it game me some codes a couple of times even when the car was stock. I was always scare of something breaking. Also, the dealers don't turn the rotors so when is time to replace the rotors and brake pads the dealer will put new ones which is in the thousands.
These cars are great to drive but they can get out of hand as far is the budget.

I would say mileage and MY make it an attracting price. But don't worry these engine if well maintained can last long!
So make sure you have all service history. You said it is a CPO, are you buying it from a MB dealer? I doubt it because of the mileage. So the CPO warranty kicked in a year ago or so i guess?
I would recommend you to get an extended warranty as well in this case just for piece of mind. (headbolt issue can be expensive to repair although this problem is not as frequent as you could imagine)
Check for brakes/tires as well to see how much life you have left.
6k$ is definitely too expensive from the dealer. If you don't have the performance package you can get OEM rotor/pads for less $.
Most of the basic maintenance on a c63 can be DIYed. Just need to know what you do and have the proper tools. Thanks to this forum there are a few DIY threads that will help you

If you don't have the p30 package (and it looks like this car does not) then you use the regular one piece rotors for the C63 which are like $150 apiece (2044211212).

These guys paying thousands for brake jobs are brain dead. The rotors are usually still good, pads will suffice. The two piece rotors are big money, if you don't want to buy them just get the one piece which are way cheaper..

considering you're coming from an s55- those a maint pigs in comparison to a c63. Those 2 cars are sooooo different from each other. Little low end torque, high top end power - light weight and agile vs gobs of low end torque, little topend, heavy and boat-ish. on the bright side both get about the same mpg . I'd say you cant go wrong with the cpo warranty still intact, maybe even see if it's still in. Just check the maint. history and make sure it's all good. should've had spark plugs amongst all the other regular maint. by now.
