Eureka! Engine Appearance Cover Clips
Anyway, after combing the internet I was just about to give up when I found clipsandfasteners.com They have every clip known to mankind except for the one I was looking for. I did purchase 4 other varieties to try, that I thought would fit.
Item number A20268 "GM garnish moulding fastener" $13.33 for 25 of them.

This particular clip worked like a charm and is actually better than oem.
I also recommend putting on this rtv silicone:
It is heat resistant to 400 - 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
Place the high heat silicone sealant on the plastic panel receiver before you press on these clips. Dry overnight. If the panel does not snug on as desired, simply pry the outboard tangs of the clips outward for a tighter fit. I can almost guarantee a lifetime worry free fix. I actually pried off all the oem clips and replaced them with these GM ones. They are a stronger and heavier build metal than the Mercedes clips. Perhaps a visit to an autoparts store might render the same results. Just wanted to share what worked for me.
However, caveat emptor.
I'm just a dumb consumer and know nothing, proceed at your own risk.
Mercedes, thanks for nothin....although you do build a DAMN FINE CAR

Added benefit: if some Corvette owner gives you grief about your Mercedes you can truthfully tell him that your car has genuuiiine American made GM parts on it!
when i got my car, it was missing one - after scouring the internet and various contacts to no avail, a local MB tech had one in his service bay and gave it to me. then i safety wired them all together to prevent them from ever falling off again. what a pain though. this is a much easier solution.

A lifetime supply of clips for $13.00. Sounds good to me.
They will work without the adhesive. The inboard tangs really bite into the plastic. For added insurance, I used the silicone sealant.

Wanna sell me a few of your clips? I don't need 25 of them!
Same exact thing happened to me, I have no idea where 1 of the clips fell off. It drives me nuts thinking I lost something from the engine bay.
Either way, if any of you want to sell me 4 of the clips, PM me. I can paypal you a few bucks to cover the postage etc.
