Got some new MHP Gen 2 headers in.

Wanted to eliminate the slip fit in chasing a leak. I would have liked to try the MBH but I never got a response.

Im curious to see if Ill get anymore power out of these from the increase in collector size.

I have my track data from last season and Ill compare that to next years with these new ones on.

Heres a pic.

I thought this gen2 was coming with a x-pipe fitted to it?

Ya it does.

I didn't take a pic of the mids. Those are just the headers.

I can snap a pic of the X pipe if u like.

No my understanding was this thing was coming in one piece headers + x-pipe. I was just curious to see.
But apparently I got it wrong.

Well hell, now that I have a gen set of mhp's, how bad do they leak at the 4-1 slip fit?

majority of the people complaining about the leak on the collectors have some sort of Weistec kit also

N/A shouldn't have any problems

I never had any problems with it leaking NA...

I think its with the blower cars where it is POSSIBLY an issue.

I am not even convinced mine was leaking, but I am just trying to eliminate things.

I would hope so, although I must say that installing them is very easy without the length of the collector there to nestle it in there. Besides a few of the bolts to the heads were kind of a bear, these headers on this car was one of the easiest headers I've ever installed. Modular engined Mustangs SUCK to install headers on!!

I hate it.

removing the valve covers gives a lot more room. There is that stupid 3/4inch lip on the valve cover that makes it hard to get down from the top.

Yep, some of the top bolts where actually accessible from the bottom. Driver's side was definitely the worst for me. Front two upper bolts on the driver's side to be exact, pissed me right off!

this would never work as one peice. how would you spread the headers to fit over the studs not to mention having to pull the motor and with the subframe from the bottom to install.

modular exhaust manifolds arent even that bad to start with design wise (not talking installation lol). ford doesnt leave nearly as much on the table as the other brands. most brand's stock manifolds are like logs, cast and horribly restrictive. I dont think the 63 headers are all that bad depends on what car and which brand. Theres definately easier out there and harder too.

good luck

All the factory exhaust looks very nice material, and flow-wise, except the outlet of the exhaust manifolds are barely larger than the primary tubes on those MHP headers I just got. So I'm hoping to see some nice gains. I'll extend a couple o2 sensors tomorrow, install my ecu, and hope for the best, I'll report back.

You will see excellent gains. Hopefully you have an X pipe on your system.

just pipes going into the resonator. Is it a power thing, or a sound thing?

takes some time for MBH to get back to you. they have a website that you can order from now - judging by looks, MBH is something you should have gone with. very high quality piece.

Want me to get my bro to weld you an X pipe, it will tone that ugly raspy and crackling noise down and smooth out the flow.

I dont know if It was in my head, but I felt a bit more mid range after the X pipe was installed.

I have my old mids off so I can shoot him the dimensions easy... pm me if interested.

Tried to get a hold of the guy no answer.

These will do just fine. I think the larger collector will help power a bit.

Honestly I love the sound of mhp with an X pipe.. The mbh sound different.

My friend Blowin63 with the weistec stg 3 just went from mhp with no x pipe to mbh with an x pipe and he only gain 15 or so Rwhp. Dunno how much affect the x pipe has...

Let me see how she sounds, if it's insane, I might try replacing the resonator with an X-style dual in/dual out muffler in its place. I should have it goin today, I'll report back.

I'd leave the resonator. X pipe works perfect. If u dig up my x pipe thread there is lots of voids.

Thanks Merc63. I just fired it up, and I love the sound so far. After we celebrate Thanksgiving this afternoon, I'll reattach all of the skit-plates and taker her for a drive!!!
Also re-using the MLS header gaskets worked fine, not even a hint of leaks!! I'm pumped and wanna drive it!!!

Wow, it sounds good! got a little resonance in the cabin. The cross bar that sits under the the exhaust pipes directly upstream of the resonator is making contact with the pipes. I might have to "drop" the center of that cross bar so it has maybe a half inch of clearance or so. Car definitely has a bit more power, I'm happy!

Take that bar off. Spacing wont work, it will still tap it. Been there, done that.
