There's to many people in life to tell you what to do..

If you can afford it good for you !

I understand the majority are concerned about youths in performance cars.. because facts don't lie. But that doesn't mean your not the minority that knows how to look after and drive a fast car safely.

Your living a dream life for many people that wish they were in your position at such a young age.

My advice? Enjoy it man Just be careful! Keep your head screwed on!

I stand by what I said, a 16 year old BOY has no business behind the wheel of a supercar,
99% chance of it all going horribly wrong..

What's wrong with you all? what if WHEN he loses it he runs into YOUR family?

Supercar + Young guy = MADNESS .....

I don't agree at all..

You have absolutely no right to judge anyone you don't know. Your a typical example of tarnishing the brush of many.

The question asked was " GTR or C63 ", which one would you buy ?

OP,
If I could turn the clock back 30 years and I was in your shoes id go with the 2015 C300 instead of the C63, I believe its a great car for you at this time in your life if you are looking for a Benz.

The new C class will be a fantastic car and get the AMG in a few years when you have had some driving experience. (If you read below I needed more then 2 years of experience and or maturity)

My first car was a 1979 Chevy Station wagon.
My Dad would not allow us to buy a new car until we had at least 2 years of driving experience, (hence the chevy family wagon).

When I turned 18 I walked into the dealership and bought a brand new 1985 IROC Z camaro. It was an awesome car and fast for the time.
Less then 2 weeks later I wrapped it around a tree because I thought I could handle the car. Luckily nobody was seriously hurt except my wallet.

Since that incident( 28 years ago or so) I have had a new respect for cars.

We all know we can wreck a Ford Fiesta or any other car on the road but give yourself a few years of driving experience before you step into the 500hp car range. You will be happy you did and have something to look forward to.

just my opinion.
Gluck on whatever you decide on and be safe.

Haha to the person who said a 16 yr old boy shouldn't be driving a supercar, I would honestly prefer a male driver of any age over a FEMALE driver of any age. Woman can't drive.. I have been hit by 3!

I understand that everyone has there own opinion, I just think its wrong to give it over the forum when we don't know each other!

What should be a nice topic has turned into a age slagging match lol.

Lets all exist in peace

uhh..... this is a forum. this is EXACTLY where you express opinions though you don't know each person individually.

and it's not really an opinion, its fact. young drivers are, and put others, at more risk.

its fact, not opinion... its a well researched and highly published on topic.

Lets face the reality of this situation. Unless this kid (at 16 you ARE a kid) has extensive experience driving at, or on the edge of control in an amateur race series, there is absolutely no way he has the ability, instinct or practical knowledge to control either one of these cars in unpredictable or emergency situations. Everyone has to learn to walk before they can run. Everything I own and drive has the ability to kill me or others on the road. They all have good horse power with greater or lesser degrees of traction and handling characteristics. Would I allow this kid to drive my cars, bikes, or truck? Hell no. Despite his seemingly otherworldly maturity level, it takes experience to know when to whoa and know when to go. That only comes with time behind the wheel. To throw a novice driver behind the wheel of either of these cars is reckless to say the least.

Edit: A weekend or even week long defensive/high performance driving school wont change it either. It would give me false confidence to think that I have the tools to drive in an even more aggressive manner.

Datbenz. As others wiser than me or you have said. Don't be afraid to start smaller and work your way up. That would show true maturity.

I am sick and tired of that BS. First off the C63 IS NOT AND NEVER WILL BE A SUPER CAR. A stock 5.0 mustang with a manual costing 27k will kill you just as quick! Second just cause a C63 is expensive for you doesn't mean it is for others! The C63 isn't a "halo" or special car it's a Mercedes with a bigger engine stuffed into a regular C class body whoop dee doo. Get off your high horse and stop making this car to be some Lamborghini which it's not and far from it. If any of you are wondering yes I am a C63 owner.

Idk what country you live in...but in my country (Canada) having any sort of AMG thats <5 years old isn't poor and if I remember correctly C63s do give some lambos a run for their money...besides the gallardo is FULL of issues..a guy in my city was replacing a stupid part of his transmission every few months and he never even bagged on it, plus it sounded like completely **** when he would launch...it just sounded like it wasn't built as high as quality as everyone likes to make it out to be...it's just the american economy...everyone thinks it's honky dory and everyones rich and doing good..but reality is everyones poor as ****. I'm not talking **** about lambos but you'd figure for being a "super" car they'd have not so many issues..basically all lambos are now is an audi with a lambo shell over it...i'd rather a ferrari

End of the day a car is a car ..who cares about the badge...just look at the posts in this thread..everyones getting so bent out of shape over a 16 year old wanting to buy a sports car...seriously? i thought we were mercedes owners...maybe instead of saying "oh he'll die" ..maybe give him some advice instead..maybe tell him to never turn ESP completely off unless he actually wants to die, **** like that goes along way vs saying "OH HES GONNA SMOKE A TREE" ..no..tell him how to avoid smoking a tree..besides the T/C in the C63 WILL save you 99.99999% of the time.

OP just rememeber this...it's your life...don't act like a dumbass ..realize you have 50+ years ahead of you...don't have a "YOLO" attitude..you own a tech company, so do i, do you want to see yourself make millions? just remember when your behind the wheel of the C63 or GTR that you have a life ahead of you, and don't for the life of you EVER turn off T/C completely in either of these cars..especially the C63 unless it's VERY dry and you have good tires, but like i said..it's your life so do what you want but just remember you have a business to run and family to take care of whenever you WOT it.

Enjoy the new car

The CL is a fat lard and you can pick up a used one 08-09 for under 70k.

Since the OP shared his age in his opening post he must have thought that information was relevant. While he didn't ask whether he should own a high performance car I felt it was my responsibility to share my thoughts on his bad idea. I believe we all have a responsibility to help our fellow man (or child in this case). Like it or not he does not have the driving experience to operate a vehicle with 500 horsepower. I don't care how many technical nannies are built into the cars in question. Experience takes time to develop, being bright is not necessary nor is it sufficient to avoid a catastrophe behind the wheel. A better description of the cars in question are very high performance cars. That would apply to Vettes, 5.0 Mustangs and the like. A car with acceleration from a standstill better than 7 seconds to 60 is too fast for an inexperienced kid.

Honestly speaking, you should get some driving experience under your belt before committing to such a high horsepower car, especially for a daily driver.

a) if you rear end someone, you'll cry
b) if you wrap it around a pole going through wet weather, you'll die.

Putting aside costs, it's the mature thing to do. get some experience. Then you can own whatever you want and not kill yourself in the process.

And of course this isn't binary. it's not like the voting age, yesterday = no, today = yes.

it's long continuum of low to high across a broad range of maturity, skills, and experiences.

Anyone can drive my CLK63 safely on dry empty roads. Anyone. Can. But will the CHOOSE to? When you start "having fun" the number of people who can do so safely starts dropping off. Add in other cars, and it drops off more. Add in weather and it drops off more. Add in adverse road conditions like pot holes, off camber surfaces, g-outs, and top-outs and it drops off even more.

End of the day... spend a few years learning what there is to learn about driving. It's not a textbook subject. Checking off the right boxes on the multiple choice test-o-tron doesn't mean you'll automatically do the best things when the **** hits the fan.

If you want (and can afford with cash) a hobby, get a c63 and track it. But your first street car should probably be something more mundane.

Why not go with a new sti and build it up to any performance wants that you have?, a friend of mine has a fully built 2011 sti which has plenty of power, around 450hp, and is his dd which is still plenty capable in the winter (I live in saskatchewan). If i were your age with that type of financial backing i'd much rather put it into a car which i could build into something unique such as an sti/evo, or even a golf R for that matter. Seeing as you said this vehicle will be mostly used as a daily point a to b commuter i don't think its really necessary to go for something with such high performance since you wont often get the chance to use it. Another good option would be going with a bmw 335xi with an N54 motor, plenty luxury with loads of opportunity for performance (JB4 tune ect.), plus you'd still have the drivability in winter with the x drive. any ways thats my two cents, wish i were in your shoes

Enjoy the new car

Are you seriously comparing a Lamborghini to a C63? Are you those types that pretend your on that same level? Are you really comparing a car that costs 220k+ to a 63-85k car? Also you may want to read up on your facts about Audi R8 vs a Gallardo, engine block is the about the same and that's about it. I love how you try to "rationalize" how a C63 is more dependable and better then a Gallardo. Exoticas aren't meant to be dependable like a nissan or Honda and people who can afford them don't give a ****. Listen tell yourself what ever you need to say to try to make yourself on the same level as an exotica but your not. People like you who pretend to be on that same level are seriously sad. Also by the ways I live in both Miami and Boston and if I pulled up in my C63 in some valets asking for a front spot I would get laughed at. Hell I see so many C63's and M3's around Boston because of all the private college students here. When I bought my C63 I was comparing it to a FORD Shelby GT500 not to a exotica. But for your sake we will compare them to Lamborghinis lol....
