Need some advice
I went to my local dealership yesterday and they have a 507 sitting in their showroom. I was going to get warranty for my car because I'm about to run out. That's 4000$ from mb for 3 years and also I need to change my rotors and pads fairly soon. So I asked myself should I just get a new one ? Sticker price was 86 they said they would do 82+ tax so it's 90 out the door. Considering my car has 45k miles and I need to put so much money into it, I'm thinking of an upgrade. I think the rotors and pads would cost a lot so it seems more logical to just go with a newer model.
Thanks

OP, it is usually the smartest financial decision to drive your paid for vehicle until the wheels fall off. Having said that, life is short and if you can afford to change and get pleasure from a new vehicle, then I would do it. I like the face lifted 63's, but if all you want is more excitement I would look at a tune.

I started writing up a post about how much less tax you'd have to pay and decided to look up cali and your state sucks... You don't get a tax break on the trade in value of your car? That is crap.
Anywho, I would hold out. Honestly, with the new C-amg right around the corner I'd wait for that. It almost sounds like you're trying to talk yourself into it by saying you have this maintenance coming, but is it a 100% must or is it you just trying to talk yourself into the car? You can just save money now for a bigger down payment on the new c-amg instead of spending that money on a 507 which is like a hood, tune, wheels, and some cf bits.
On the other hand, you can always just trade in the 507 if you like what the new c has to offer and if you don't like it then at least you have a 507.

if the decision is financially based it makes absolutely no sense...
to buy a new car (similar to the old) because of POTENTIAL warranty and the usual maintenance issues?
if you have more money than sense then what does it matter?

The thing is guys I love the monstrosity of this engine and I would like to keep this car as much as possible and what better way than buying a fresh one where as mine has 45k miles. Mercedes isn't going to do the same mistake they did with the engines of these cars not all amgs will have the same engine anymore, so might as well get the last naturally aspirated 6.2l in the market. I'm pretty much sold on the new car it's just what they would give me in trade for my car.
PS my car has euro charged v4 tune h pipe, and coils. It's not that I'm bored of the car but I just don't think having this car up 100k miles is good.
Thanks

if you can afford it and plan to keep it for a while, and you are in love with the 6.2, I'd get the 507. like you say, it'll have about 45k less miles on it.

Some of your points do not make sense. You are saying you don't see yourself driving your sedan until 100k miles. In another you're saying you want the last available 6.2 N/A engines which means if you buy this 507 you intend to keep it forever like 100k miles + ?
The forthcoming maintenance you have do not justify the swap. Brakes could be done for 2k$ or so with aftermarket parts (good quality ones) or a bit less if you buy OEM parts online (if you don't have P30 it's less expensive). Stealership brake job is ridiculous (around 6k$). Don't buy this crap!
I think you are using this as an excuse to get a new car. I can understand, you went to MB, saw the car and fell in love some how. I'll say if you can afford it and if you don't get robbed for your trade in then go for it! GL
By the way your car is an 09 CPO so your warranty should be valid for at least one more year if I'm not wrong ?

I say go for the 507.
It will basically be a new car for you because it looks like you will be going from pre-LCI to LCI.
Post pics after you get it.

IMO just go for the 507 (if you can afford it, then why not?). Life is too short and a C63 ownership has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with logic. If you wanna crunch numbers, then your best bet would be a bus pass.
I do however advise you to get rid of your C63 yourself. Sell private party or to carmax as personally I've had very bad experiences with dealership appraisals on trade ins, especially when those sharks smell the fact that your car is paid off.
If you're buying cash, I saw a 507 on eBay for $73K in TX with 3,800 miles. Call up the guy and offer him $62-65K. Chances are that they raped whoever traded it in and dealer probably picked it up for $55-57K.

Good luck!

If you are worries about longevity, mine is also an 09, and I am at a little over 90k at the moment. Runs fine. I do the maintenance myself, so it is not as bad as taking it to the dealer.
as others have said, if you want a new car, no reason to ask for justification, if you are financially secure and can afford it, then do it. No matter what anyone else things, it is your life.

2012 C63 AMG BS, 2010 DUCATI 1198S
It seems this isn't about money at all. You love the car, and want to upgrade without losing the M156 engine. I respect that. If you're willing to spend $90k on a 507, maybe a used BS is also an option, unless you absolutely want a sedan.
Yeah, we can go back and forth about how much better the new C AMG will be performance wise, but sometimes it's about more than just the numbers.
I say 507 or BS. Either way you'll enjoy it.

If you have money to burn, sure.
If you have other important events to fund, wedding, college, etc. then it's not the best money choice.
For me, it will take a real dream car to buy new again. You save big bucks by letting some else pay the first 2-3 years of depreciation.

You will get hit hard on the trade-in value my friend... trust me.
I went to the dealership for fun, and they offered me 40k$CAN for my 2010 AMG with 9k km fully loaded & fully modified (minus the HRE) in exchange for the 507... I told them no thx. LOL

Saw a Mars Red 507 coupe today parked outside my work...didn't realize the seats were different from coupe to sedan. The red and black accents looks great; much sportier.
Tough call on what to do. That 6.2L will be a tough addiction to break.
