Need help on retrofit !

Hey guys I would like to retrofit the new tail lights to my 09 C63... I heard its fairly simple, just plug and your done !? I dont really like the old style lights in the rear so was looking into getting the oem 12-14 tail lights. Anyone knows how to retrofit these ?
Thanks

You can do it, but unfortunately once the 2012-2013 LED tail lights are installed, (Facelift tail lights) one s pre-facelift model, (2008-2011) the fog lights and half of the brake kight remain on. In order for the new tail lights to function properly on your car, you would have to have someone that has access to the Star Diagnosis software reprogram your Rear SAM unit, so that the rear fogs and brakes function properly. This has to be done in developer mode. You could either have that done, or find a used 2012-2013 Rear SAM in a salvage yard or online, maybe at eBay. Now, I don't know about the 2008-2009 w204 models, but with the 2010 and 2011(I have the 2011) you have to physically get your Rear SAM programmed inside a 2012-2013 model then have the SAM unit installed in the car. With the older models, (2008-2009) I think you do not need a 2012-2013 model, but just someone who has the start diagnosis software. (Someone quote me if I am wrong here)

With me located in South Florida, I haven't met anyone yet who can do this for me. (Since you need a 2012 model in my presence for this to work) I am desperately trying to get my hands on a 2012 SAM unit already programmed, so I can have these OEM LED tail lights working properly. Anyone that has a used one(programmed) or is willing to sell me one I will pay GOOD money, however it must be a programmed one.

Follow up, your options are:

1.) Get your rear SAM unit reprogrammed by somebody, either requiring a 2012 model w204 present or not, and then have the SAM installed in your car.

2.) Find a used, already programmed rear SAM from a salvage yard or online.

3.) *Worst pricey option*= Buy a new 2012 Rear SAM fro parts.com and have that programmed inside a facelift model w204.

I heard from an friend the 09's are just plug and play. I don't think it would be smart to go oem if you need to change the Sam unit and all that it's just too much work. For a simple light change.

Question I have:

1. Are these cheap in quality anyway? (I.E the bulbs, housing, and overall build quality?)

2. Do they Look EXACTLY like the OEM ones? If not, what is the difference.

3. So there is no fog lamp error or any functionality error?

4. Will these fit a non-amg w204?

Thanks.

These are top notch quality bro. Its the euro version as well, so you get the orange blinkers. They are laser fitted so its exactly the same as OEM. I wouldnt put them on my amg if they were cheap looking or was not up to par in quality. There is no fog lamp error on these, just plug and play. I don't think the OEM ones were better quality plus my RR lense was having issues with melting the actual connector.

The year of your car looks to be there in the description, but if your concerned i would just shoot him a quick message before you buy.

Hope this helps bro

I shot him an email. If you don't mind, would you show pictures of the tail lights on your car? Also, how long have you had them?

Hey, I was wondering if you ever ended up doing this conversion and what needed to be done. I have an 09 myself and would like to do the same thing. Thanks Anthony
