I am a new Member, and bought a 2009 C63 AMG, that I have had the ECU updated with the Weistec Tune 1

Since the update this car is a V8 Nuke.

What are the best tires to keep them on the car with manor of control. When I bought it it has Goodyear Eagle F1. With very little throttle the car breaks lose and the rear end is everywhere.

These tire have very wide groves leaving little rubber to contact the road.

If anyone can help, please let me know.
I have ordered a rear wing for the highway where if I step on it, the back end breaks loose.

Just got my C63 and I was also curious what people are running for tire.

If I was to go out and buy a summer tire for this car, Id get Pilot Super Sports.

I run Pilot Cups on my C BS, great traction for a street tire, however they wear out fast so if you are on a budget you might want to go with something with a higher treadwear rating.

Easiest solution: Get wider tires. Equip your car with the widest tires available (up front and in the rear) and you'll begin to see your traction increase. Just make sure the tires will fit without any rubbing.

The ContiSportContact 5P and Michelin Pilot Super Sports are both outstanding tires. They're probably two of the best street/daily tires money can buy.

I've also heard good things about the Toyo R888.

On the track, Dunlop is where it's at for this car, IMO.

Heard good things about PSS. I had 5Ps before and the SO4s I have are much stickier. 265s. When it's 70+ outside I can launch from a standstill and almost not get any wheelspin even with the EC v4 tune.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports are your best bet to address traction issues. Tread wear is medium, but they're pretty good for a summer tire.

I'm curious as to what you mean you bought a rear wing for the highway to help with tires breaking loose? Even the C63BS' wing doesn't attribute much to downforce.

Mine is tuned and kinda turns tyres through 2nd gear but nothing thereafter... maybe you've got **** tyres?

Lol! Welcome to the C63 world!
No matter what tires you choose you will always get them spinning
That is one of the fun factor of this car.
We have a very poor factory offset in the rear therefore we cannot put very wide tires unless you do a widebody conversion.
How long have you been driving it? Learning the car and how to feel/feather the pedal can help too.

this is the truth. If you're really serious about traction you'll at least get the rear wheels widened...if that's even a word.

I've got 10.5's in the rear on 275 michelin PSS. Seems to work quite well, but really no matter the tire if you're mashing it off the line as much as it seems you'll burn through any tire quickly.

Whatever brand you go with, make sure you go with a wider diameter to increase the contact patch....265's and 275's are common in here. I ran Bridgestone RE-11's....

I used to have PSS and they're outstanding in twisty roads, but not so much in straight line unless they are warmed up first.

As others have mentioned look for wider tires. If you are losing traction in straight lines it will be hard to correct with just tires.

If you feel you are slipping during corners, perhaps a limited slip diff will help out (if you do not already have one equipped)

I would say a combo of wider tires + LSD will help.

Please bear in mind I was a BMW Person until August. This was my first post and some of the abbreviations are not familiar to me.

1. What is PSS
2. On stock rims how wide a tire can I put on?
3. My BMW 335i had the same width tire on the rear, and alot less HP and TQ even with modifications which were many - It put out 385 at the tires on the Dyno

Bear with me while I get used to the new abbreviations.

1. PSS = michelin Pilot SuperSports. Surely you've heard of that tire.
2. On OEM's you can get a 265 on the rears, but I wouldn't go any wider on stock wheels.
3. I had a 135i with jb4+downpipes. Mean little son of a gun. Fun cars are those 35i's.

2. Depending on the tire, I believe others are running 265 or 275's in the rear. I'm sure others will chime in regarding this though as I'm new myself.

the pss are a good tire but definately sacrifice performance for tire life, wet performance and noise levels. If you dont care about life, wet performance or noise. get the toyo r888. You'll realize why people always say the best possible car modification is tires, because its the only thing connecting the car to the road.

if you are in an area where the temps are cold (below 40 degrees), of course the car will spin the tires. summer tires are rocks in this temp.

when the weather is warmer, a decent 265 street tire should have no problem with the power your vehicle develops, especially in the higher gears.

i ran 295's toyo r888s on rear of my moddified E55 (which is a trq monster) and it handled it pretty good (just dont drive fast on the highway in the rain).. the PSS and any other normal street tire would just spin like no tomorrow and hook like crap

now that i have a C63 the wheel spin isnt near as bad on the PSS as it was when running them on the e55, but even in stock form i can spin them pretty easily... getting tuned and longtubes this week so after that will probably need to get a set of toyo r888s again in 275

weistec S2 is in the future as well so i will be back to e55 power/trq levels and traction problems again... que sera sera

Extreme Dimensions

The supersports are amazing tires, as are the R888s. Toyo Proxes (i believe t1?) are pretty good as well. Increasing wheel and tire width will give you the most traction.

I really like the RE11s, they grab very good, tread life is good if you remove some rear toe and wet traction is unreal.

I have 265 in the rears. Conti Extrm DWS. It hooks when its new and all temps. Now its down to wear bars. 1st gear its useless. 2nd its not bad.
