Please... please don't plasti-dip.

Hire a professional to use real paint.

For emblems, you will save time and money by just plastidipping them. With new emblems you need to remove the old ones, goo-gone the gunk that's left behind, and remeasure the placement of the emblems; that's assuming you want it as close to the original position as possible.

Please show me a picture of two year old plastidipped emblems or ... better yet... a grill... I do not believe that they will hold up and stay a uniform black.

I would never degrade my 63 with Plastidip.
Trust me and go with someone professionally car painting them. They look amazing.

The rear emblems hold up surprisingly well, actually. The grill and side trim are a different story however. I've tested it and my rear emblems has stayed fairly consistent in color, but the grill will begin to fade over time.

Yet, I will do it again since the application of plastidip is so easy that I honestly don't mind respraying it every few years. Plus, this lets me try out different colors as well!

If you're looking for something permanent then I would go with painting/vinyl wrapping/etc. But for those individuals who have "ADD" when it comes to customization, plastidip isn't a bad way to go.

Plastidip is ok. But i would prefer to do gloss black emblems, than matte.

Go Gloss

I just had my grill, rear emblems and chrome professionally stripped and painted by a shop. Everything looks factory. I've seen several Plastidip jobs and the problem is ....that they look like what they are--a DIY Plastidip job (particularly grills). Okay, but never quite right unless the car is on the move.

Planning to black out my grill, and I was originally going to wrap it in gloss black vinyl, should I just paint it instead as most of you recommend?

For the grill, painting might be best. Just make sure you get a clear coat on it as well, as road debris will more than likely chip at it. Vinyl wrap isn't a bad choice either, but if the vinyl gets chipped or ripped, then you will have to rewrap it again.
