Fog Light Illumination Issue
It would appear at first glance that I have a short issue. Having said that, I am not electrician by any stretch of the word.
I was sitting in front of a convenience store and was able to see my reflection in the glass from the front of the building. As I was sitting there, I noticed my fog lights would alternate in lighting. One minute, both were on, then one went out, and then the as that one came back on the other would go out...
One of the lens has a crack in the glass from a stone chip, but other than that, there is no visible damage to either of them that I can see.
Could the clips be lose? Or does this sound more like a shorting issue as I stated earlier? I know this is a strange issue, but has anyone else had this happen?
Figured I would ask before I tear into it, could save me some time.
Oh and if I turn the headlights on to manually with fogs, issues all go away...

I noticed it as I put the car in reverse to back out of my spot. As I began to back up, I turned my steering wheel and that is when I saw it, so I stopped, put the car in drive and moves up a bit and it switched to the other one, I repeated this a few times and it continued to happen.

I have the same thing on my 08 C63. It is a package option and the lights will turn on depending on which direction you are turning.
Kinda trippy at first and I thought something was wrong, but that's the design so don't worry about it.

Its just your cornering illumination. Its not a short.
And to add to it all, when you put the car in reverse, the illumination reverses.
Meaning, ordinarily, when driving forward, when you turn left, the left fog lights comes on, and right, right fog light comes on.
When in reverse, if the steering is turned left, the right fog light comes on, and if your steering is right, the left one will come on.
At times, if you make a quick left & right, both will come on.

I have never heard of this for fogs.
I have seen DRL's go out for turn signals etc, but never anything for fogs. Crazy.
Thanks, makes me feel better. Whew!

LOL- True
But how would Mercedes get us to spend more money on our cars?
Manufacturers build components to fail eventually, so the consumer fixes/ replaces (out of warranty)
