Apparently for the cooling upgrade AMG Germany requests the VIN number and will not ship to a number that does not fit the upgrade. That is what I was told, anyway, but then again - only way to find out for sure is try and see.

That's what I fear: selling me any piece just to sell, and eventually can not fit into my car.
Has anyone done this setting under the 2012 models?

I will try to see if Tracy can check this before ordering.

I found the installation instructions including part numbers here on MBWorld before. Please search. If you do not have it yet by the weekend, I can send it to you when I get back home. Right now I am traveling.

Is the use of this cooling upgrade only benefitial on the track? Or would it make a difference for other higher stress situations such as continuous highway driving (such as a drive across the country)

On track is about the only time you'll ever experience temps that the cooling package are meant to address.

A drive across the country continuously for hundreds of miles is about the *lowest* stress condition your engine will ever face. Good airflow, low RPMs = zero strain on the motor or tranny.

In Canada eh

I tried ordering this through my Canadian dealer.

They quoted me as follows in Canadian dollars PLUS tax PLUS the estimated 8 hours installation costs:

204-880-06-00 $550.20
204-500-57-00 $2821.83
Total pre-tax and pre-instalation : $3372.03

Prices from two US dealers are quoted as

204-880-06-00 $1001.00
204-500-57-00 $819.50
Total pre-tax and pre-instalation : $1820.50

OK I will have to add the exchange and some shipping costs but the markup on the 204-500-57-00 is outrageous.

Well I got in touch with the Mercedes Canada AMG Product Liaison Manager about this incredulous almost doubling price difference in Canada for the same parts. He investigated and got back to me with negative results. "This is the price in Canada, sorry".

What an outrageous position and disrespectful gouging policy towards Canadian AMG customers.

The parts show up as on backorder in automated systems, because they are not in stock in the US. They have to be ordered from Germany (which takes about a week). Get in touch with Tracy Lehrke at oediscountparts.com (Skyland Auto in Asheville, NC). She got the parts for me and at a good price.

This is so true. i noticed today (first actual under 60 degree day I drove in) that not only were the temps holding steady at lower degrees but even the gauge right next to the gas gauge was going as low as 80 and when I got on it hard would creep up to its normal place but sat right in between 80 and its normal location. temps were 212F and between 190 and 197-200. Crazy how well car cools.

That's why I don't buy parts in Canada whenever I can avoid it.

I also had cooling issues on track days with my 2013 C63 P31. So I took Wobble64's endorsement on the cooling kit. I bought the kit from Tracy, she has the best price and customer service, highly recommend. I printed the instructions and did the install myself. The kit and instructions were very complete and thorough. The only things I can add is that with the initial install with two empty engine oil coolers, the car took 11 quarts of engine oil. Also, you lose very little transmission oil when changing to the two new transmission oil cooler lines, but I will check the oil level and top off if needed. I followed the instructions and saw no reference to any software updates for the cooling kit. If a S/W update came after the instructions were written, a reply to this post would be great. I also used the procedure to reset the transmission shifting points, now the car does not 'dump' into the next gear at low rpm, much smoother and at proper rpm. Can't wait for my next track day, hopefully no need for short shifting to keep the engine and transmission cooler. Next on the agenda is a differential cooler. Wobble64, any further reports with your diff cooler? This was my two cents, hope it helps others considering the kit.

Colin,
respect for doing this on your own - that is quite a large project to install it by yourself. Well done!! And I am very pleased to see that my write-up was useful - including the tip to work through Tracy. Her heart is definitely in the right spot - she likes to help us enthusiasts out.
The oil cooling upgrade requires no software change at all. The thermostat is taking care of it all - and now it has more cooling capacity to work with.

Regarding differential cooling - the finned heatsink approach works just fine for street driving and typical short track day runs of no more than 30 minutes. I had no issues with overheated diff oil even after a scorching day at NCM in July. Just follow this:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...l-cooling.html

Happy New Year!

Sadly oediscountparts won't ship to Canada :-( Actually, the reply I received was "we don't sell or ship to Canada". I followed up by asking if they could ship to a relative in the States, but no reply after a week (admittedly its holiday season) so I think they also won't sell if your credit card address is Canada. Talking to Pelican now. They list the two part numbers but I'm waiting for confirmation they have the complete 44O kit.

What are your normal temperatures that your car averages on the following:
Normal driving around town?
Aggressive driving on track days?
Spirited driving through the mountains.

Thank you

Engine coolant: Always 194 to 197 F rock solid, year round and on track
Oil: more variable, 215-225 F during street driving including mountains. The highest I have seen on track (ca 100 F on the circuit) was 255 F, mostly in the 240s on hot days. 230s in cool days.

I have the Black Series front bumper and 44O oil cooling upgrade. With that setup the car is solid. My buddy's Porsche is running oil temps that are about 10 degrees higher than mine.

After taking my VIN, Pelican replied that 204-500-57-00 was NLA. Interesting as the local dealer said its available to them!
