OEM 507 hood
So after considering some of the aftermarket 507/BS style hoods, I've decided it might be worth it to just get an OEM one. I've been searching the forums looking for a part number, and a place to order one, but have found neither. Anyone have any info? I know I can just go to my dealer and probably ask them to order one, but if I can find one for slightly cheaper from an online parts dealer, I'd rather do that of course. Thanks!

I guess I should ask, did you have to buy any required parts with it? Or does the hood come with the vent grills, and install with the existing hardware? I've heard that the vent grills are separate parts that you have to order, and that it needs some different mounting hardware, but wasn't sure if thats true.

These questions would be easy to answer if you got EPC Online (electronic parts catalogue). You need to sign up, but its free. Try it.
In the meantime, I looked it up for you: There are about 20 parts associated with the hood. You need to check what you already have (e.g. attachment accessories to install) and what you need, e.g. air inlet grill, mounting clamp for it, Mercedes badge, etc.

Good luck!

Anthony,
Contact Hedges on this forum, he did the OEM 507 hood swap on his car. He can let you know what you need.

Why should the mounting hardware be different?
Any 507 owners in here could post a pic of their hood open? That could help too.

before you finish what you're working on, I hope you're trying to make it exactly like the 507 hood but 50% cheaper
there's too many non standard hoods that are aftermarket that defaces the car, we need something like the stock one but better.

I will be in on a Mode Carbon product! When will you have them available? Also is Mode Carbon working on side skirts similar to BS skirts? Revozports and Vorsteiner have Side skirts, (Vorsteiner is a bit better than Revozport) but not to my personal taste.
count me in on a Mode Carbon Hood!

There's more to it than just the hood. You need the "nostril" covers and vents, clips, and the hood liner (might be more, I forget). I have the complete parts list, total cost was about $3,900, but well worth it.
