Hi all. I have one 507 edition rim for sale (no tire). The rim was nicked in transport to my house by the trucking company from the dealership. I have already received a new rim from Mercedes so I am throwing this up for sale in case someone wants a spare or has a wickedly damaged rim and instead of paying full price for a new one they can buy this one instead.
My price is $1,000 USD or best offer (brand new price from dealership $1,700 USD) with free shipping to continental USA* ( hawaii, alaska, canada, europe, australia add $75) Will be shipped via FedEx/UPS with tracking number and insured. PAYPAL PREFERRED!!
No, I'm not trying to "stick it" to anyone. I thought it would work out well if someone perhaps had a badly damaged rim and instead of spending hundreds to fix it on big defects (which most likely will still be discernible since nothing ever looks like brand new except for brand new), they could buy a gently used version with less of a defect to fix or just live with the small chip. Or better yet, using your logic, buy it for $1k, repair for $200, and still save $500. Some people out there on a budget might do something like that, some prefer to always buy new. Anyways, it doesnt hurt me to throw up some pics and offer people an options when it only took 1 minute of my time to do so.
I like how you put out the scratching head emoji. I guess you've never considered selling extra goods you have no need for for a profit? There's that Canadian education at work for you! Eh? Or I guess I should just let it sit in the basement and collect dust right?
And yeah, since I'm not a bad driver and I dont curb my rims, that why I thought I'd give it a chance to sell. Plus I have the tire and wheel care package when I bought the car so no real need for a 5th wheel.
And selling it 42% off MSRP is not a bad deal for such a simple and relatively small defect, in my opinion. MB doesnt discount this kind of stuff, unless I'm wrong cuz I'm new to this realm. I'm actually hoping someone can prove me wrong. Would be great to know where I could save money in the future if I need parts.

Reason: typo
U are definitely entitled to sell what u want @ the price u want.. But I was giving u a friendly advice that I highly doubt u will be able to sell that wheel for 1k$Shipped.
If u were really doing this community a favor (since u got it at no charge), u should fix it & resell it for 1k$ & u would still pocket more or less 800$ if really it only cost 200$ to repair. Then u might get a potential buyer. Just my opinion.
Why would I potentially risk spending $200 of my own money fixing a rim when I'm not even sure it would sell at any price point, ie considering lots of people on this forum have aftermarket rims like you, some people only like brand new items, etc?
Front me $200 to get it fixed and I will pay you back in full with $100 interest if it sells.
PS: The initial price point was not hard and fixed. No where did I say "firm" or "no low balling"
PPS: "Ouch" and "Lol" isnt really friendly advice. Sounds more condescending.
U are correct OP, nothing is guaranteed in life. Refinishing this matte finish will not be easy to match perfectly but u are the seller & has less to lose than us as buyers.
One thing I can guarantee u though is any 507 owners (same as u) will not install this wheel as is. The damage is very noticeable, so as is sale I would not be surprised if u get low offers of 200-300$. Again this is just my opinion.
That's when I know I've won when the big internet tough guys come out to defend their boy.
It's all good though. Even though my thread got hijacked, I rather take the satisfaction knowing that I finally enlightened you about the difficulty of a matte black repair job, not risking your own money if you dont need to, and that if someone out there on this forum wanted to buy a rim with a 1% surface area scratch for 40-50-60% off full MSRP and maybe just rock it the way it is if its less noticeable than their current fubar'd rim or fix it on their own time cheaper than buying brand spanking new one, that at least its an option for someone. Maybe not an option for you, but someone else.

Dude you got a 100% free replaced rim like a little whiney cry baby (and thats exactly how you probably sounded calling the trucking company to replace it for you or the benz dealer with your warranty)!!! Just shut up and keep it as a spare for yourself instead of trying to pawn it off like some desperate chimp!!!!
STFU
Most of the time when an item you've purchased is damaged in transit and then the seller has to replace it, there is a condition that the damaged item be thrown away and not resold. The right thing to do is take it your local MB dealer and give it back to them. Let them worry about what happens to it next.
Trying to make a grand on something you received for free is understandable. Who doesn't want to make an extra grand. Just be honest with yourself and don't try to convince everyone that you are "helping someone else out". If that were the case you'd donate the wheel for free. On top of that, writing things that directly attack a persons nation of origin make you sound like a complete fool.
A brand new one is only $1440 before shipping just FYI. So $1000 for a scratched one doesn't sound appealing at all, Even not to mention that most potential buyer will look for a set of four rather than a single wheel.
