Anyone own a Jeep SRT8?
I basically need more space with our baby and another on the way and as much as I want it to work the c63 just won't cut it. I'm thinking 41k is fair on my car: thoughts and comments are welcome.
2009 with 18.2k miles
Steel grey over black with carbon fiber, shifter and dash piece also.
All options except the LSD and alacantra steering wheel (p30 package I think)
Single fin grill, lo-Jack, dry air filters, was a CPO up until this month.
All service records available.
Only bad spot is a scar on the rear bumper that is a half inch long that I was quoted 325 to 400 IIRC to fix.
Does have a tune with handheld tuner so can be removed.
Seem reasonable at 41k?
I always hear they are the best bang for buck vehicle for performance from him.
I am also a big fan of them but I know nothing of maintenance or issues sorry.
I hear the Jeeps have a few issues here and there (as do all cars). I'd do a quick google search.
Your price seems fair for a private sale as well.
Best of luck!
PS --- the c63 can fit 3 babies in the back
I dig it!
If you live where snow is an issue and you need the space to carry the entire family and then some and want some go during your commute and have that V8 sound you've come to love from your C63, then the Jeep SRT-8 is a good choice. Heck, if you get one, just add a tune and a CAI kit and enjoy it.

Yes, I think the $41K for your 2009 LOW mileage C63 is very reasonable.

It felt a bit heavy but the engine is powerful enough and the sound is not bad at all. Stock has a nice design but aftermarkets can make it faster and louder.
If I had to buy a sporty SUV that one would come first before the X5M for a 2014 MY because I'm a N/A guy not yet a turbo fan. Now the thing with the 2012 it has the old 5spd auto transmission whereas the newer models have the 8spd auto if I'm not wrong. They got xenons and LED DRLs which is cool.
At the end of the day your wallet will dictates which one to choose. But you can't go wrong with either. GL

In regards to the 8 vs 5spd it really didn't change mpg or performance based on my readings. However how gear is engaged on the New one is just weird, I felt like I was in drivers ed with the sales guy.
As for you price on your old c63 I think that is a bit high, but you should be able to get somewhere in the high 30s. Basing this off what I paid for my 2010 c63 p31 with all options a few months ago (had 35000 miles on it)
I like it!

It's Darth Vader's twin

A buddy on my had a red one just like that with headers, Borla catback and NOS and other crap. That **** was fast! It was loud too, but in a very good way - no drone, just a deep V8 sound.
The X5 M is a freak, BUT you don't have to get the M to have a fast BMW SUV. The X5 Xdrive 50i have the TT 4.4L V8. They are as fast as the Jeeps with a tune.

No the 8 speed came in 2014, and if memory serves me correctly the 8.4" display was 2012! That is the reason I was looking at the 2014 only, I wanted the 8 speed tranny. Instead I ended up with my c63 because the 2014's SRT JGC were still up there in price, but truth be told if they were the same price I wouldn't be driving a c63 p31 right now I would have bought that 2014 SRT!
There is now rumor (though probably not true) of a (707HP) hellcat powered JGC, that this would be insane but I don't think the AWD drivetrain can handle the power so I don't think the rumor is true.
And yes i meant that the SRT group doesn't currently have an AWD drivetrain that can handle the power, just the RWD drivetrain (the one used in the hellcat challenger).
What the heck does Nissan have to do with this? They don't own jeep either and also have never been related to the company. Geez dude!

My bad on the 8 speed. I had a 300 SRT, so I was pissed we didn't get the 8 speed for '13 (so I got a '12).
I don't see (with how popular the Hellcat will be) that the Jeep won't get that motor at some point.

The Jeep is probably the best selling SRT product (aside from the Challenger, and I bet it's close). They may wait a year or two to A) see how the Hellcat does in the real world, and B) Develop and AWD system that is bullet proof enough to handle the torque.

They can (2005-2010 and 2012-present) be difficult to get a child seat in and out of, where the later models are somewhat easier.
For the money, I'd scout a 2010 SRT. They have nearly every creature comfort of the WK2, with better performance OOB and so far have held better resale value.

They were the same speed in a straight line because of the additional weight, but everything else absolutely demolishes the old Jeep SRT's.
The '12+ JGC's are on another level. If the OP is serious and has test driven a new SRT, he'd throw up on himself if he went and drove an older one.

If it were me i would agree as stated above that if you can afford the '14 go that route, if not then drop back down to an '08-10. There was a refresh for the '08my which changed the dash, front fascia and most importantly the interior changed from light grey to black.
if you want some real world feedback check out this site www.cherokeesrt8.com ...this is a REALLY good forum and they are all good guys by and large. also if you just want some detailed tech/model year info then check out http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_srt8.htm
there are several names i recognize on here already (grip grip) and i wish they would chime in as well....other than the mpg you really cannot go wrong with one
National Used Sale Listings (via Autotrader.com)
------------------------------------------------
2006-2010 JGC SRT8: 261 units
2012-2013 JGC SRT8: 180 units (of which, only 46 of these account for the 2013 model year)
------------
WK1 SRT: .87g
WK2 SRT: .85g
This equates to far less than a demolition in my book, but it is a relative term I suppose.
However, as jptaylor states, the 2014 is the way to go, if considering a WK2.
