Weistec ROW Airboxes

I just checked out the weistec website and finally they have the ROW airbox in stock again. I was about to order them but realized that they jumped the price by an extra $100.

Not too long ago they were only selling for $449 and now they're selling them for $549.

What do you guys think? Are they really worth $549?

Recently a member showed that he gained 22 whp with the ROW boxes. If you think about it, headers get you about 50-65 whp and cost $3,000. $550 for 22 whp ain't too bad. I think they come with filters too which adds value IMO.

Am I missing something here. Why wouldn't you just buy from oediscountparts.com or one of the other OEM dealers with cheaper prices than Weistec? Same boxes.

I guess shipping cost will make the deal a little bit off. Unless you combine several parts it might be more expensive to get it through these websites

Hmmm 22whp gain from just the boxes...? Or 22whp gain from boxes and the high flow filters?
I installed the EC V4 tune and K&N's at the same time. I noticed a huge difference in the power being made at that point. I installed the ROW's after the fact and tbh I don't know that I noticed any additional gain by way of power output.
If Weistecs ROW's come with the filters I would say it is worth it, if filters are additional money, I would think long and hard about that purchase.
I bought mine (new) from another member without filters and sensors for like $120 shipped or something.

I already bought Weistec Hi-Flow filters and did a charcoal delete myself.
Was tempted to just take a cutter and snap off the rest of the plastic on the USA Airboxes.

I'm curious if anyone feels the $500 investment is worth it if they already did a charcoal delete and replaced stock paper filters.

I have seen videos on the YouTube of people who modified the US boxes to flow better with negligible results. I think with CD and High Flows the box difference won't be much. But if all three are done in one shot it will dyno/feel stronger.
I did the CD and K&N and honestly I don't feel much of anything with my butt dyno but my cold starts seem a little more potent. I want ROW boxes but I can live without them (for now).
I'm guessing that once the 4.0TT is in full release we may see prices for the 63 mods come down a bit. (dreaming)

The only reason weistec increased price is because there is a demand for them... So in their minds if people want them, people will pay for them. You can easily find them for 150 cheaper. From us to row box, you won't be able to feel anything. It's like comparing k&n to afe. There's no noticeable difference in terms of "feel"

Can someone explain:
Both US and ROW engines are rated 451 HP SAE OR 457 PS DIN
THE SAME
If the box added power wouldn't ROW cars be rated a bit higher?
eg e46 M3 were rated 333 in the US and 338 in Euro trim

With oem paper filters will they cause a CEL?

Maybe they can do another group buy like they did on the oil/air separator. I am sure they would get 25 orders on the ROW Airbox filled easily (myself included)

I've wondered this myself they may generate more power but Mercedes decided to use the same number for sale and promotional purposes. Conversely, they may have up tuned the North American to get the power with the carbon filter? I can only imagine it has a lot to do with ECU mapping. But I'm just speculating on the forum.
Would be interesting to have solid information.

You may be right
The m156 in the C is power/throttle limited to begin with
Maybe they relaxed it for NA or increased the limiting for europe??

I think this is the likely scenario, myself, but interesting question.
